Gepetto created this reliable, registration-free lap timer and counter for slot car racing. It's a pure camera-based solution.

Main components can run on a single phone or be distributed via Google Quick Share:
- Camera: Place on a bridge overlooking the track for car detection.
- Steward: Manage the race and view full standings and lap times.
- Driver: Shows personal lap times, lap count, and best lap. Optional audio announcements.
- Billboard: Displays live standings and results on a large screen or TV.

Quick Share requires devices to be on the same WiFi network and in proximity. The app supports single and multi-heat races, automatically distributing drivers across heats.

Camera Setup
Place your phone on a bridge overlooking the track and tap the Camera icon. The app detects cars by comparing the live feed to a baseline picture. Align the lane guides (pinch to zoom if needed) and take a baseline photo. The flag icon will turn red when ready. Tap it to start racing (green flag). Adjust detection zones for precision. Timing accuracy is ~1/30s, depending on device performance. Wide-angle cameras recommended.

Steward Component
Launch the Steward on another device by tapping the checkered flag. Once connected, you can manage the race, view standings, and access Driver views for specific lanes remotely.

Driver Component
View race info and lap times. Tap the speaker icon for audio announcements (earphones recommended). Note: Drivers cannot start/stop races.

Billboard Component
Optimized for Android TV, tablets, Windows PCs, Macs or Chromebooks. It displays live race standings and current heat results on a large screen.

Running Multiple Components
You can run Camera and Steward (or Driver) side-by-side using split-screen mode in landscape orientation. Setup the camera first, then tap the Steward icon or a track info area to launch the second component.
