Give the music already playing on your phone a new home: an animated cassette player inspired by the look and feel of classic tape decks.

Retro Traveller connects to an active media session, displays the current song and artist, and lets you control playback through tactile cassette-style buttons. Keep the full-screen player open as a live-wallpaper-style display while you listen to your favourite music.

MAKE THE CASSETTE YOURS

• Choose from a collection of cassette designs, backgrounds and playback-button styles.
• Personalise compatible tapes with your own photos.
• Edit multiple photos in Photo Studio with crop, rotation, undo and film-inspired effects.
• Customise track colours, cassette labels, clock display, brightness and landscape layout.
• Choose hidden, standard or tall playback buttons.

BRING YOUR MUSIC TO LIFE

• Watch animated reels, pulsing activity LEDs, moving light and gradient bulb effects react during playback.
• View the current song and artist directly on the cassette label.
• Play, pause, stop, skip or return to the previous track when supported by your music app.
• Use optional sound and vibration feedback for a more tactile experience.
• Open the radial menu from the cassette itself and see style changes immediately.

SMART PLAYBACK TOOLS

• Set a Stop Timer for up to 12 hours.
• Shake left for the previous song or right for the next song.
• Enable AutoStop to stop playback when Retro Traveller closes.
• Optionally open Retro when a compatible media app starts playing. Allow all detected media apps or select specific apps. This requires Notification Access; automatic opening also requires Android’s “Display over other apps” permission and an unlocked screen. When automatic opening isn’t available, a notification shortcut lets you open Retro. Media-app selections and discovered app information are stored on your device and aren’t uploaded by this feature.
• Quickly return to the source music app or active player.

BUILT FOR MORE SCREENS

Retro Traveller supports phones, foldable layouts and free rotation throughout Home, Settings and About. The immersive cassette playback view stays in landscape.

MEDIA COMPATIBILITY

Retro Traveller works with media apps that expose standard Android media sessions and playback controls. Available actions depend on what the active media app supports. Retro Traveller is a companion display and controller; it does not provide or stream music itself.

WHY NOTIFICATION ACCESS IS NEEDED

Android uses Notification Access as the system bridge to active media sessions. Retro Traveller uses this access only to find the music playing on your device, show its track information and send playback controls. It does not read or use your message notifications, and you can disable access at any time in Android settings.

Available in English, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Simplified Chinese.
