Hoopi Live: Play / Record / Mix / Post

Of course there are apps that let you play. Amp captures, effects, the lot.

Of course there are apps that let you record. A mic, or plug in an interface.

Of course there are apps that let you mix. Faders, regions, a timeline.

Of course there are apps that sync your audio to video. Drag, nudge, render.

That's four apps, three file handoffs and a laptop.

Which one does all of it? Hoopi Live.

Hoopi Live is a recording studio that fits in a gig bag. Plug your audio interface into your phone or tablet, play, and keep the sound you actually heard – then let the app put it to your footage and hand you something worth posting.

You played it perfectly once. Then you watched it back and the phone had turned your sound into a tin can. Your guitar runs through neural amp captures: real amplifiers, measured by players who own them, with the feel and response of the originals. Those captures live on TONE3000, and Hoopi Live loads them for you – take the one a preset was voiced against in a tap, browse their library for something else, or bring a .nam file of your own. Vocals, acoustic, bass and keys get their own chains alongside it – high-pass, gate, EQ and compression on every channel, and one reverb they share so the whole thing sounds like one room.

Nineteen voiced presets come ready to play. Eleven for guitar – clean strat shuffle, smooth ballad lead, chiming dotted-eighth delay, warm blues lead, modern high gain, and a DI for running into your own amp. Eight for a microphone, sorted the way you would actually choose one: which mic you own, dynamic or condenser; whether your voice sits low or high; and what you are doing with it – singing and playing at once, talking between songs, a harmony tucked under a lead, or a mic a foot from an amp that is working. Each preset is a whole channel set up together: high-pass, gate, EQ, compression, amp and effects, chosen to suit each other rather than a name over default settings. Set up a scene for your acoustic set and another for the loud one, and switch between them in a tap.

Hit record and play. Every take is kept whole, named and dated, ready to listen back on the spot. No tracks to arm, no project to save, nothing to lose because you forgot a step. Record as many as you like, free, for as long as you like.

Film on the phone that is already pointing at you. Hoopi Live lines your footage up with the take and renders one video with the good audio on it. No editor, no syncing by eye, no clap. If you have no footage, it makes a card from the mix so you can post on sites that require a video.

Pair a Bluetooth footswitch and start a take, change a scene or punch an effect without breaking the song. Put a second device on a stand and drive the whole rig from across the room.

Record as much as you like, for as long as you like. The whole rig, every amp and effect, unlimited takes, and full-quality WAVs of everything you recorded. The mixer is free too – regions, cuts, loop, pitch, speed – and a free export sounds exactly like what you heard, with nothing held back from the file. There is no trial to run down and nothing expires.

Ten finished exports are free as well. Posting a video, an audiogram or a mixed track costs one, and a song you have already put out can be re-rendered for ever without costing another.

Hoopi Live Pro: Export past the first ten, as often as you like. The opening card becomes yours – shortened, dropped, or carrying your own name instead of ours. More than three scenes, scenes grouped into banks, and letting another device drive your rig from across the room. Buy it once; it is yours.
