That urge to buy something right now — before you've even thought it through — costs more than we realize. Impulse Buddy gives you one simple thing to do about it: a private pause button for your spending.

HOW IT WORKS

When you feel the pull to buy something, open Impulse Buddy and log it. Enter what it is, the price, and start a short delay timer — a minute, an hour, a day, whatever you set. While you wait, the app offers you a distraction to help the moment pass: a random Wikipedia article, a breathing exercise, or something else entirely — you choose what's in your rotation.

When the timer ends, you decide. Buy it, or don't. Either way, Impulse Buddy logs the outcome, so over time you can see exactly how often you followed through, how often you waited it out and bought it anyway, and how often you talked yourself out of it — and exactly how much money you kept in your pocket by doing so.

WHY A PAUSE WORKS

The "wait 24 hours before you buy it" rule is common financial advice for a reason: a short delay is often all it takes to tell the difference between something you actually want and something you just want right now. Impulse Buddy doesn't lecture you or tell you what to do — it just gives that pause a home on your phone, so it's there the moment you need it instead of something you have to remember to do yourself.

WHAT YOU GET

Log any purchase urge in seconds — item, price, and category
Set your own delay time per item, from minutes to days
Built-in distractions to help you ride out the urge (fully customizable — add your own links)
A running total of exactly how much you've saved by waiting things out
A private history of every logged urge and its outcome, so you can see your own patterns over time
Home screen widget and quick-settings tile for one-tap logging, right when you need it
Optional PIN lock so your spending habits stay yours alone
Supportive, judgment-free messages — no shaming, no guilt trips, just a nudge to keep going

BUILT TO BE PRIVATE

Impulse Buddy works entirely offline. There's no account to create, no data sent to any server, and nothing to sync to the cloud. Everything you log stays on your device, under your PIN if you choose to set one. We built it this way on purpose — what you're tempted to buy is nobody's business but yours.

WHO IT'S FOR

Anyone who's ever added something to a cart at 1am and regretted it by morning. Anyone trying to save for something bigger by spending less on everything smaller. Anyone who just wants a beat of friction between "I want this" and "I bought this" — without a budgeting app, a bank connection, or a lecture.

WHAT IMPULSE BUDDY IS NOT

Impulse Buddy is a personal self-help tool, not financial advice, budgeting software, or a substitute for professional financial guidance. It doesn't connect to your bank, doesn't track your income or bills, and doesn't tell you what you can or can't afford. It's simply a pause, a place to reflect, and a record of your own choices — built to help you spend a little more on purpose.
