SURBAGGHI — A Battle of Wits on the Hourglass Board
Surbagghi is a 2-player strategy board game that puts a fresh twist on classic capture-based gameplay. Set on a striking hourglass-shaped board, every match is a tense duel of positioning, patience, and precision.
HOW TO PLAY
The board features 37 connected points shaped like an hourglass — two funnel-shaped zones at the top and bottom feeding into a wide 5x5 grid in the middle, linked by horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines.
Each player commands 18 pieces, all on the board from the very first move — no pieces held in reserve, no waiting to get started.
A coin toss decides who moves first. From there, on your turn you can either:
• Move a piece one step to an adjacent empty point, or
• Jump over an opponent's piece to capture it, landing on the empty point directly beyond
Capturing is never mandatory — but making a move is. Choose your moments wisely.
CHAIN YOUR CAPTURES
Line up your moves right, and a single piece can jump multiple times in one turn, sweeping away several of your opponent's pieces in one devastating sequence. Or play it safe and stop after one — the choice is yours.
SIMPLE TO LEARN, DEEP TO MASTER
The win condition is straightforward: capture every one of your opponent's pieces and you win. But the strategy underneath is anything but simple — the hourglass shape creates chokepoints and open lanes that reward careful planning over rash captures.
