Somewhere out there, the world is covered in fog — and only your own footsteps can clear it. DeFog turns the planet into a living, personal exploration map. Every walk, run, or stroll you take physically reveals the streets, parks, and neighborhoods around you, permanently and in real time, right on a real map of the world.

Forget static step counters and flat charts. With DeFog, your progress is something you can actually see spreading across a map — one walk at a time, one revealed street at a time.

HOW IT WORKS
- Sign in with your Google account to create your personal exploration map
- Walk anywhere — DeFog uses GPS to track your movement in real time
- A small radius of fog clears around you as you move
- Every cleared area is saved forever, building a permanent record of everywhere you have physically been
- Your total walked distance and overall world-exploration percentage update automatically as you go

BUILT FOR REAL LIFE
- Works quietly in the background, so tracking continues even with your phone locked or in your pocket
- No need to open the app constantly — just walk, and check back later to see how much fog you cleared
- Great for daily walks, commutes, hikes, running routes, or simply exploring a new city on foot

COMPETE ON THE GLOBAL LEADERBOARD
See how your total walked distance stacks up against other explorers around the world. Your rank updates as you walk more, turning everyday movement into some friendly, ongoing competition. Only your display name and total distance are ever shown to others — your exact location and detailed history stay private.

WHY PEOPLE LIKE DEFOG
- A simple, visual way to feel motivated to walk more
- Makes familiar neighborhoods feel worth exploring again, one block at a time
- A satisfying long-term project: how much of your city — or the world — can you personally uncover?
- No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions. Just you, your feet, and the map.

YOUR PRIVACY MATTERS
DeFog only collects the location data it needs to power the fog-of-war map and calculate your walked distance. Your precise location is never shared with or shown to other users. On the public leaderboard, only your display name and total distance ever appear. You can review exactly what data is collected, how it is used, and how to request deletion of your account and data at any time in our full privacy policy, linked on this page.

Every journey starts with a single step. Open DeFog, start walking, and watch the fog disappear.
