BX Signal is a live, community-driven event and resource board built for the Bronx. It is a hyperlocal platform that maps real-time happenings across the borough, from free food distributions and job fairs to art events, health clinics, and neighborhood gatherings. The Bronx is full of activity, but that information is scattered across flyers, social media, and word of mouth. BX Signal brings it together into one map-based experience that anyone can access without creating an account.

At its core, BX Signal is not a social network or a news feed. It is a signal board—a living radar for the borough. Every event or resource appears as a glowing ping on the map, carrying a topic, time, place, and description. Signals happening now pulse, while upcoming ones sit quietly, waiting to be discovered. The result is a real-time picture of what the Bronx is doing and offering at any moment.

The platform addresses a persistent information gap. Community organizations, schools, mutual aid groups, and local artists regularly host events that never reach beyond their immediate networks. As a result, resources go underused and events are underattended. BX Signal closes this gap by making community activity visible and accessible.

The experience centers on a map of the Bronx. Users can pan, zoom, and explore freely, with transit lines and neighborhood boundaries providing context. Signals are color-coded by topic, including Food, Education, Environment, Community, Arts and Entertainment, Safety, Health and Wellness, and Jobs and Training.

Each signal includes a title, description, location, and time, with optional links, images, and pricing details. Signals can be in-person or virtual and automatically expire when events end, keeping the platform current and uncluttered.

Discovery is simple and fast. Users can filter by topic, toggle between in-person and virtual events, or search by keyword or neighborhood. The interface updates instantly, making it easy to find relevant opportunities.

Anyone can contribute by sending a signal. No account is required. Submissions go through a review process to ensure accuracy and prevent spam, maintaining trust while keeping participation open.

Each event includes a lightweight chat and RSVP system. Users can join conversations after RSVPing, allowing for simple coordination without external apps. Chats remain minimal, with no profiles or algorithms.

BX Signal also integrates transit data, showing subway and bus routes with real-time service alerts. A classifieds section supports the local economy by allowing community members and small businesses to post announcements and services.

The platform is built on an asset-based philosophy, highlighting what the Bronx has rather than what it lacks. Every signal represents an opportunity, reinforcing the borough’s activity and resilience. The design reflects this with a bold, high-contrast interface inspired by radar systems and urban signage.

BX Signal works on any device, requires no downloads or accounts, and does not track or sell user data. Moderation and reporting tools help maintain a safe environment.

Currently in beta, BX Signal is evolving through community use and feedback. Its vision is to become the default place where Bronx residents go to see what is happening around them—a shared, real-time view of the borough.

BX Signal is the Bronx, made visible.
