ERP Loop Tape is a free, privacy-first audio tool for exposure and response prevention (ERP) — the gold-standard behavioral technique for OCD and anxiety disorders.

Whether you are working through contamination fears, intrusive thoughts, or other forms of OCD, this app helps you practice exposure exercises between therapy sessions. Record your own exposure scripts, organize them, and play them back on a loop — all on your device, with no account and no tracking.

🎙 Long Exposure Scripts

Record spoken exposure scripts that describe your feared scenarios in detail. Name each recording, toggle individual scripts on or off, and play them back in randomized rotation. Use the built-in timer to set session length (5 minutes to 6 hours) so you can focus on the exercise without watching the clock.

Long exposure scripts are a core technique in ERP therapy: you listen to your own voice describing your worst-case scenario on repeat, while resisting the urge to ritualize. Over time, the distress typically decreases.

✏️ Short Exposures

Type short trigger words or phrases — the kind of words that provoke anxiety or disgust — and have them spoken aloud by text-to-speech in random order. Set the interval between items (from 1 second to 1 hour) and optionally add randomization (up to ±50%) so the timing stays unpredictable.

Short exposure exercises are useful for practicing tolerance of specific trigger words without ritualizing. They can be done during daily activities as a way to maintain exposure progress.

⏱ Flexible Playback Settings

• Timer: Set a session duration from 5 minutes to 6 hours, or leave it off for unlimited playback.
• Interval: Control the pause between items in 10-second steps (short intervals) up to full hours.
• Randomization: Add up to ±50% variance to the interval so playback timing is unpredictable.
• Background playback: The app continues playing when the screen is off or locked.
• Headphone safety: Playback pauses automatically when headphones are disconnected.

🔒 Privacy by Design

• All recordings and data stay on your device — nothing is uploaded, ever.
• No account, no login, no analytics, no ads.
• Works fully offline after the first load.
• No personal data is collected or shared.

Who is this app for?

ERP Loop Tape is designed for people who are already working with a therapist on exposure and response prevention. It is not a standalone treatment. The app provides a simple, distraction-free way to do the audio-based homework that many ERP protocols require — without relying on a generic voice recorder or media player.

Important disclaimer

This app is not a medical device. It does not provide therapy, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. It is a support tool for use under the guidance of a qualified mental health professional. If you are in crisis, please contact a mental health professional or emergency service immediately.
