Budget Lens turns the CSV statement you already download from your bank into a
monthly budget that actually reflects how you spend.

No bank password. No account to create. No server. Your statements are read on
your phone and stay there.

WHY CSV INSTEAD OF A BANK CONNECTION
Most budgeting apps ask for your online banking credentials so they can log in
as you. Budget Lens never will. You export a CSV from your banking app — the
same file you could open in a spreadsheet — and hand it to the app. That is the
whole integration.

IT LEARNS YOUR BANK'S FORMAT
Every bank lays its CSV out differently. Budget Lens works out which column is
the date, which is the amount, and how your bank writes them — including the
awkward parts: semicolon files, 1.234,56 amounts, separate debit and credit
columns, DR/CR markers, and dates that could be read either way round. When
something is genuinely ambiguous it asks once, remembers the answer, and the
next statement imports in a single tap.

IT WILL NOT DOUBLE-COUNT
Re-import a statement that overlaps last month and nothing is duplicated. Buy
two identical coffees on the same day and both are kept. The preview tells you
how many rows are already there before you commit.

BUDGETS THAT BEHAVE SENSIBLY
• Set a budget per category, per month
• Let the app suggest budgets from your own three-month average
• Turn on rollover and unspent money carries forward
• Overspending never creates a debt against next month
• Budget one category separately on each account — a joint account and a card
can have their own limits in the same month

IT TELLS YOU BEFORE IT GOES WRONG
"At this pace, you will be R450 over your Dining budget by month end." Spend
velocity is measured part-way through the month, so a warning arrives while you
can still act on it. Each month also gets a plain-language health score rather
than a wall of numbers.

FINDS THE SUBSCRIPTIONS YOU FORGOT
Budget Lens looks for charges that repeat on a rhythm — not for a list of brand
names — so it catches a gym debit order it has never heard of, shows what your
recurring spending costs per month and per year, and flags charges that look
like they stopped.

CATEGORISE A MONTH IN A MINUTE
Quick review groups uncategorised transactions by merchant, so one decision
clears every charge from that shop. Tick a box and it writes a rule, and next
month sorts itself. You can also long-press the list to bulk-categorise, split
one transaction across several categories, and undo anything — an import, a
categorisation, a budget edit.

MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
Track a cheque account, a credit card and a savings account separately or
combined. Tap an account to focus the whole app on it. If two accounts use
different currencies the app says so instead of quietly adding them together —
it holds no exchange rates and will not invent them.

ALSO IN THE BOX
• Dark theme designed as its own palette, not an inverted light one
• Home-screen widget: month-to-date spend against budget
• Optional fingerprint or PIN lock
• Budget alerts at 80% and 100%, and a monthly import reminder
• Encrypted backup file you can move between devices, with no cloud involved
• PDF and CSV export of any month
• Currency and date formats follow your device
• Quick-add for cash spending that never appears on a statement

Budget Lens is free and supported by ads. Ads are shown on browsing screens
only — never beside an amount you are typing, and never in the middle of an
import. Optional rewarded ads unlock extras like report export. Nothing needed
to import, categorise, budget or read your reports is ever locked away.
