Look Afar reminds you to rest your eyes, without sounds, pop-ups or notifications.

Eye-care organisations suggest the 20-20-20 rule for screen users: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. It helps your eyes feel less tired.

After 19 minutes of continuous screen time, a coloured frame softly blinks twice around the edge of your screen, with a small blinking eye. That's your cue to look at something about 20 feet (6 metres) away for 20 seconds. Then carry on. There's nothing to tap or dismiss.

Look Afar reminds you just before the 20 minutes are up, so you still have time to finish what you're doing before you rest your eyes.

Helpful if you tend to lose track of time on screens. Look Afar keeps count for you, so you don’t have to.

Set it up once and forget it.

HOW IT WORKS

* Counts only continuous screen-on time. Turn your screen off and the count starts again.

* Choose your break interval, from 1 to 60 minutes (19 by default).

* Hourly stretch reminder: about once an hour, two little stick figures remind you to get up, stretch and have a drink of water. You can turn it off.

* Silent by design. No sound, no vibration, no reminder notifications to clear.

* Your touches pass straight through the frame, so it never gets in the way.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

* No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.

* Your settings stay on your phone.

LOOK AFAR PLUS (optional, one-time purchase)

* Six reminder colours
* Thin, medium or bold frame
* Reminder characters: a waving hand, a slow-blinking cat, glancing eyes, a beating heart, or just the frame

The core reminder is free and always will be. Optional tips are welcome too and don't unlock anything.

Look Afar is a simple reminder, not a medical device. If your eyes are often sore, dry or blurry, please see an optician.
