A song plays. What year was it? Everyone at the table has an opinion, and exactly one of them goes on the timeline.

Rille plays a clip, and you place it among the cards already lying there – older or newer. That is the whole rule. Name the title and the artist as well and you collect stars. Place it wrong and somebody else may steal the card.

2 to 6 players, more in teams, or on your own. 20 to 40 minutes a round. One phone in the middle of the table is enough for everybody.

FOUR WAYS TO PLAY
• Timeline – the classic: sort songs into your own timeline.
• Guess the year – everybody guesses the year of the same song, the closer the better.
• Klicks – the same timeline, but by YouTube views instead of by year. Who was clicked more often, Nena or Ed Sheeran?
• Solo – the timeline on your own, good for testing a fresh playlist.

WHERE THE MUSIC COMES FROM
Rille plays 30-second previews through Apple Music's public interface. No subscription, no sign-in, no second service. Rille does not play whole songs. After every clip the reveal shows that exact song with its artwork and year – and a link to buy it on iTunes. You need an internet connection while playing, because the clips are loaded.

WHAT IS FREE
• The deck that ships with the app: 229 songs from 1960 to 2023, across decades and genres. Every year in it was checked by hand.
• All four ways to play.
• One slot for a playlist of your own.
• Playing along over Wi-Fi.
No advertising, no tracking, no registration.

WITH YOUR OWN MUSIC
Type songs in, paste a Deezer or YouTube playlist link, or import a file. Then comes the step other games leave out: Rille shows you every year it found and lets you disagree before anybody plays. That is why nobody has to argue about a wrong year at the table.

Resolving takes a while. Apple allows about twenty lookups a minute, so a large playlist needs its time – but it keeps running in the background, even when you leave the app.

There is also an AI playlist builder, and it is exactly as honest as it sounds: Rille writes the prompt, you copy it into your own chatbot and paste the answer back. The app itself never calls an AI and sends nothing there.

PLAYING ALONG OVER WI-FI
One phone is enough – add more devices if you like. Guests open the host's address in a browser, with nothing to install and no account, and then see their own cards on their own screen.

WHAT COSTS SOMETHING
Thirteen ready-made decks at 2.49 each: Schlager, Songs from the Movies, Christmas, For children, 90s & 2000s, Rock Classics, Hard Rock & Metal, German Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop & Rap, French Music, Italian Music, Latin Music, Electronic & Dance. More than 3,000 songs in total, every year checked the same way as in the free deck.

More slots for playlists of your own: 1.49, 2.99 or 3.99 for one, three or five.

A 3-day pass for 7.99: every deck, for 72 hours. The clock only starts when you start it – buy on Wednesday for Friday's party and lose nothing.

The same numbers apply in dollars, pounds, euros and francs; everywhere else Google converts. You always see your own price in the app before you buy.

NO SUBSCRIPTIONS. Every purchase is one-off, and nothing renews itself.

Rille asks for no account. An anonymous account – no name, no email address – exists only once you buy something, and can be deleted again inside the app.

A wrong year, the wrong recording, the wrong video? Every revealed card has a report button, with the message already filled in. Feedback like that is the reason the years are right.
