LevelLift Snatch Block Calculator is a practical lifting, rigging and engineering tool for calculating snatch block loads, line pull forces and rope-system geometry.
Designed for lifting professionals, riggers, appointed persons, lift planners, engineers and training providers, the app provides clear calculations and visual guidance for common snatch block and sheave arrangements.
Use the app to:
• Calculate snatch block anchor point and head loads
• Estimate maximum payload from the block’s rated capacity
• Find the allowable included angle for a lifting arrangement
• Review rope-leg tension and angle factors
• Apply roller or plain-bearing friction allowances
• Check rope minimum breaking load (MBL)
• Review rope safety factors
• Check sheave-to-rope D/d ratios
• Understand how changing the included angle affects rigging forces
• View a visual representation of the lifting arrangement
• Follow a step-by-step engineering calculation breakdown
• Perform lifting and rigging calculations offline
The calculator helps explain how rope angle, line tension, bearing friction, sheave diameter and rope strength affect the force transferred into a snatch block and its supporting anchor point.
LevelLift uses clear engineering terminology and practical visual feedback to support lift-planning discussions, equipment checks, rigging education and communication between lifting teams.
This app is suitable for preliminary lifting calculations, rigging planning, training exercises and engineering sense checks. It supports UK-style lifting and rigging workflows while presenting the underlying calculation method clearly.
Important safety information:
Results are provided as indicative planning information only. The app does not certify equipment, approve a lifting operation or replace a lift plan, risk assessment, manufacturer’s instructions or competent engineering review.
All lifting operations, rigging arrangements, anchor points, ropes, sheaves and lifting accessories must be selected, inspected and verified by a competent person in accordance with applicable legislation, standards, equipment documentation and site procedures
