Fernwell keeps your houseplants alive by answering one question well: what needs doing today?

Add a plant, pick its species, and Fernwell builds a care schedule from a built-in profile — watering, misting, feeding, rotating, pruning and repotting. Everything is stored on your phone. There is no account, no sign-up, no internet connection and no adverts.

WHAT IT DOES

Today
A single list of what is due now and what is coming in the next seven days. Tap Done and the next date is calculated for you. Overdue tasks are called out clearly so nothing quietly dies behind the sofa.

Seasonal scheduling
Plants do not drink at the same rate in January as they do in June. Fernwell stretches watering intervals in the dormant season using a per-species factor, and pauses feeding entirely until growth restarts. Southern hemisphere users can flip the seasons in settings.

Your plants
Every plant gets a care score from 0 to 100 based on how far behind its tasks are, a health label you can read at a glance, and its own history. Filter by room, search by name or species, and archive plants you no longer keep without losing their record.

Plant guide — 41 species
Full care profiles for the most common houseplants: monstera, pothos, snake plant, ZZ plant, fiddle leaf fig, calathea, orchid, aloe, ferns, palms, herbs and more. Each entry lists light, humidity, temperature, soil, difficulty, pet safety, care intervals and the handful of tips that actually matter for that plant. Filter by pet-safe, light level or difficulty.

Problem solver — 15 common symptoms
Yellow leaves, brown tips, drooping, leggy growth, webbing, sticky residue, fungus gnats, mushy stems, no flowers and more. Each symptom lists likely causes in order of probability, explains what is happening, and gives a concrete fix.

Journal
Write growth notes and record height in centimetres for any plant, so you can see progress over months rather than guessing.

Statistics
Tasks logged, a twelve-week activity chart, your on-time rate, day streak, average care score, collection breakdown by room and species.

Export and import
Your whole library saves to a plain JSON file you choose the location for, and imports back on any device. Your data belongs to you.

PRIVACY BY DESIGN

Fernwell requests no permissions at all. It has no network code, so nothing can be uploaded even in principle. No analytics, no advertising SDK, no crash reporting, no tracking of any kind. Files are only touched when you explicitly pick one for export or import.

DESIGN

Material 3 interface with a light and dark theme, drawn entirely in vector — the whole app is around one megabyte. Works offline on a plane, in a greenhouse or in a basement flat with no signal.

A NOTE ON ADVICE

Care intervals are general guidance for indoor growing. Your own light, humidity, pot size and soil mix always come first, so every interval can be adjusted per plant.
