Munich Oktoberfest (Wiesn) 2026 edition

Heading to the Wiesn this year? From 19 September to 4 October, Roots Earth has a special Munich edition: getting to the Theresienwiese, the tents, prices and customs. For the hours you are not at the Wiesn, 98 Munich places tell their story, and 5,665 more wait in 130 cities worldwide.

You'll also find the festival's events and activities with times and places, plus 98 audio stories about Munich to listen to on your way there. All of it in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Albanian.

Roots Earth, all year round

Roots Earth is an audio guide to 5,665 places in 130 cities, 25 countries and 6 regions, from Paris, Rome and Lisbon to Kyoto, Cairo, Sydney and Mexico City.

Every city has a set of places worth stopping at, and every place has its own story: a short intro of about two minutes and a deeper story of about six minutes. Listen in a female or a male voice.

One story in every city is free, with no sign-up. To listen to everything, buy a pass for one day, three days, a week, a month or three months. One pass unlocks every city in the app.

Stories are in English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch and Albanian in every city. The app itself is available in 28 languages.

Download a city and listen without signal. There is no account: open the app and press play.

What's inside:
- 5,665 stories across 130 cities
- A map of each city with every place marked, and a list sorted by what's nearest to you
- Offline downloads for every city you unlock
- Photos of most places, with credits to the photographers
- Playback speed, background playback and lock-screen controls

Local businesses can also post events and activities in the app. For now those listings cover Albania and Munich.

Roots Earth is made by ROOTS SHPK, the makers of Roots Albania.
