The word game for smart people.

Smord is a word puzzle with a twist: instead of telling you which letters are in the right place, it tells you HOW CLOSE you are.

Every guess turns a color based on how many letters it shares with the secret word. Dark gray means nothing matched. Blue means you found it. Everything in between is your trail getting warmer.

HOW IT WORKS

Guess any real 5-letter word. The row changes color:

⬛ Dark gray - none of your letters are in the word
🟥 Red - 1 letter matches
🟧 Orange - 2 letters match
🟨 Yellow - 3 letters match
🟩 Green - 4 letters match
🟦 Teal - all 5 letters, but in the wrong order
🟪 Blue - you solved it

Position doesn't matter until you have all five letters. That makes it a completely different puzzle from the usual green-and-yellow word games - you're narrowing down a set, not fixing a sequence.

NO PRESSURE, NO STREAKS LOST TO A HARD WORD

Unlimited guesses. There is no "you failed today" screen. Take four tries or forty - the game waits. Stuck? Take a hint.

CASUAL OR RANKED

Play is casual: nothing at stake, just the puzzle. When you think you're good enough, play Ranked - every game counts towards the weekly and monthly leaderboards, scored on your average number of guesses. Six ranked games in a week put you on the board.

HOW DID EVERYONE ELSE DO?

After every solve, see how other players fared on the same word - and whether you beat their average. On the daily, see how today's players did.

DAILY CHALLENGE

One shared word each day for everyone, with a streak to keep going. Share your result as colored squares that reveal nothing, so you can post it without spoiling the answer for anyone else.

PLAY WITH FRIENDS

Host a custom match for 2 to 100 players. Share a six-letter code, everyone gets the same word, and the clock starts when you say. Points for solving and for every player you beat, across as many rounds as you like. Set the timer yourself, or let the game handle it. Made for streams, group chats and classrooms.

MARK UP YOUR KEYBOARD

Tap a color, then tap a letter to mark it - green for confirmed, yellow for maybe, gray for ruled out. No more scribbling on paper. Letters the game can prove are wrong get crossed off automatically, and letters it can prove are right turn green on their own.

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

• Your closest three guesses, always on screen
• Full stats: solve rate, average guesses, average time, personal bests
• Day streaks and a guess-distribution chart
• Weekly, monthly and all-time leaderboards

PLAY ANYWHERE

Works offline. Your game is saved automatically, so you can close the app mid-puzzle and pick it up later - even days later. Sign in with Google or Apple to play ranked, join custom matches and appear on the leaderboards; everything else works without an account.
