Level One Reading is a free phonics app for children aged 4 to 6, made by a teacher. There is no subscription, no advertising and nothing to buy inside the app. It stays free.

HOW IT WORKS
Your child learns to read the way UK primary schools teach it: one sound at a time. You sit with them for about ten minutes, and the app guides you both.

- Sounds. Meet each sound, trace it, read it in words and build words from it.
- Books. Short stories, with videos, where every word uses only the sounds your child has already learnt, so they can never get stuck. A dot under every sound shows where to blend; tap a word to hear it.
- Tricky words. The words you can't sound out (the, to, I), learnt by sight: say it, see it, find it.
- Flashcards. A two-minute warm-up of the sounds learnt so far, before the book.
- Stage checks. Read the alien words, like the Year 1 phonics check at school, to show a stage is secure.
- Level 3. The same sounds spelled in new ways (ay, ai, a_e), where reading really opens up.

FOR PARENTS
- Each book's cover tells you what it practises and which words to just say.
- Dots mean sound it out. No dots means say the word. That's all you need to know.
- Record your child reading and listen back later. Recordings stay on your device.
- Share their week with a grandparent in one tap.
- Lights a star for everything they do, so progress is something a four-year-old can see.

WORKS WITH YOUR CHILD'S SCHOOL
- School focus: follow the same sound order your child's class is using, so home and school match.
- Teachers: set up your class, share its code with families and set the week's focus. You see how many families have joined and are practising, never which child.
- Free for every family in your school. Ask us for a line for your newsletter.

FREE, AND STAYING FREE
