Learn to read music and play in time. MT Sound Quest is a complete music theory trainer for your phone or tablet: sight reading, rhythm training, sheet music practice and your own exercises - on a virtual piano on screen, or on your own digital piano plugged in over USB MIDI.

Free to download. No subscription, no account, and your exercises, your scores and your statistics stay on your device.

♪ SIGHT READING
Notes appear on the staff, you play them on the piano keyboard. Choose treble clef, bass clef or both; natural notes, accidentals, or a key signature from 1 to 7 sharps or flats. The counter tracks right and wrong answers while the timer runs. Turn the phone: landscape mode gives you a wider piano.

♪ RHYTHM TRAINING
Tap two drums in time with real rhythm notation, guided by a metronome with a count-in. Build your exercises from the full catalogue of rhythm figures: whole, half, quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes, triplets, dotted notes, rests, offbeats and syncopation, in simple (x/4) and compound (x/8) time. Attack AND length are judged - a note released too early does not pass. Two hands ready: upper and lower lines together, one drum per hand.

♪ SHEET MUSIC READING - NEW
The two skills on one grand staff: which note, and when. Right hand, left hand, or both. Loop any passage from measure A to measure B, let the app play one hand while you work on the other, force a single tempo or follow the written ones.

♪ WRITE YOUR OWN EXERCISES
A rhythm editor and a full score creator: key signature, time signature, accidentals, chords, ties, staccato, trills, ornaments. Write the passage you struggle with, hear it played, then send it to training and drill it.

♪ PLAY ON YOUR REAL PIANO (USB MIDI)
Plug in a digital piano with a simple OTG cable: your real keys become your answers, sustain pedal included. No setup, no third-party app - the home screen shows the MIDI connection state.

♪ FREE PLAY
Seven octaves, sustain, adjustable dynamics - and the staff writes what you play, in treble or bass clef.

♪ TOOLS AND PROGRESS
Metronome, tap-the-tempo BPM finder, session reports by clef and by key signature, rhythm accuracy figure by figure, history and rolling averages.

Perfect for music students, self-taught musicians, choir singers, and anyone learning music theory who wants sight reading, note reading and rhythm to become reflexes.

App available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian and Polish.
