You save hundreds of new words and still can't recall them?

The problem usually isn't learning more words — it's meeting them often enough, in enough contexts. VocaLearn is built around that: every feature draws on the word list you already have.

■ LISTEN WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE SCREEN

Start the listening loop and put the phone in your pocket. The app reads your words one by one, least-heard first, and you set how many times each repeats and how fast. Good for commuting, cooking or the gym.

■ PRACTISE BY TYPING THEM BACK

Two drills over one word list: see the meaning and type the word, or hear it and type what you heard. The app puts forward what you get wrong most and haven't seen in a while.

■ AI SENTENCES BUILT FROM YOUR OWN WORDS

AI takes 2–3 words from your list and writes one short, natural sentence, then reads it aloud. Each batch makes 10, with the translation alongside.

■ READING PASSAGES ON TOPICS YOU CHOOSE

Pick one of 20 topics — travel, food, technology, nature, history — or type your own. Choose 100 to 500 words and a level: Basic, Intermediate or Advanced.

AI writes the passage and the app reads it aloud, highlighting each word as it goes. Tap any word to look it up, or highlight a phrase to translate it. Every passage is saved to read again.

■ FIX THE GRAMMAR IN YOUR OWN SENTENCES

Write a sentence in the language you are learning and AI corrects the grammar and spelling, with a short explanation in your native language — so you learn why.

■ 13 LANGUAGES

English, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Thai and Indonesian.

■ FLOATING TRANSLATE BUBBLE (OPTIONAL — USES THE ACCESSIBILITYSERVICE API)

VocaLearn uses Android's AccessibilityService API to provide the optional floating translate bubble. The feature is OFF by default. It works only after you turn it on yourself in the app's Settings and grant the permission in your phone's Accessibility settings.

What it does: while you are reading in another app, a small bubble floats on the screen. Highlight a word and tap the bubble — VocaLearn shows what it means, reads it aloud, and lets you save it to your word list, without leaving the app you are reading.

What the accessibility service reads: only the text you have highlighted, and only at the moment you tap the bubble. The app does not read anything else on your screen, does not record what you type, and does not track what you do in other apps.

Where the data goes: that text is sent to Google Translate to be translated, exactly as every other translation feature in the app does. We do not send it to our own servers, we do not keep a copy, and we do not share it with anyone else. The words you save stay on your device.

Turn it off at any time: drag the bubble onto the ✖, use the switch in the app's Settings, or turn the service off in your phone's Accessibility settings.

The bubble works in most apps. Where it doesn't, you can still tap VocaLearn in the menu that appears when you highlight text — that route needs no permission at all.

■ NO ACCOUNT NEEDED

Open it and start. No sign-up, no email, no password. Your word list stays on your device and exports to a file to back up or move phones.

■ WORKS OFFLINE

Adding words, listening and practising work with no connection. Only the AI features need the internet.

■ ABOUT CREDITS AND ADS

The AI features use credits. You get 5 free credits every day:

• 1 credit = 10 example sentences
• 1 credit = 1 grammar correction
• 1 credit = 1 reading passage

When they run out you can watch a short ad for 5 more, and those don't expire. The app never shows an ad on its own.

Download it and start with your first 10 words today.
