F5 Radar is a severe weather radar app built focused on Tornadoes for the United States. Weather enthusiasts in other geographies may still enjoy the 3D tornado archive and following US severe weather outbreaks.

See rotation, inspect debris signatures, explore storms in 3D, and jump back into historic tornado events using real NEXRAD radar data. Whether you follow storms casually or study severe weather, F5 Radar gives you the tools to understand what is happening inside the storm.

See rotation clearly

Tornadoes often show up first in velocity data. F5 Radar helps make that rotation easier to visualize.

• Storm-relative velocity helps remove storm motion so rotating couplets stand out
• One-tap couplet highlighting emphasizes mesocyclone and TVS-level rotation
• Official NWS mesocyclone and Tornado Vortex Signature markers appear directly on the map
• Hydrometeor classification can reveal lofted debris, often seen as a tornado debris signature
• Dual-polarization products including ZDR, CC, and KDP help you investigate the storm yourself

View storms in 3D

Lift radar scans into a volumetric 3D view and inspect the storm from any angle.

• Orbit around storm structure
• Immersive Augmented Reality Radar View
• See how rotation stacks through the radar tilts
• Look beneath the anvil and follow the couplet vertically
• Explore live storms and archived events with the same visual tools

Relive historic tornadoes

F5 Radar includes a growing archive of more than 600 tornadoes from 1950 to today, including over 50 F5 and EF5 events.

Each event includes a detailed storm dossier with rating, path, peak intensity, meteorological setup, warning timeline, and damage survey information.

For radar-era events, Take Me to Radar opens the exact archived NEXRAD moment so you can study the storm as it happened.

You can also explore tornado outbreaks, historic derechos, and every U.S.-landfalling hurricane.

Understand the tornado environment
• Drop a sounding anywhere
• View Significant Tornado Parameter, storm-relative helicity, wind shear, and other severe weather ingredients
• Explore a 3D hodograph with motion that reflects low-level rotation potential
• Display SPC tornado outlooks, tornado watches, PDS watches, and mesoscale discussions
• Get plain-English environmental readouts that explain what conditions favor

Get alerts where they matter

Receive tornado alerts for the places you care about.
• Tornado Warning, PDS Tornado, and Tornado Emergency notifications
• Escalating alerts can re-sound when a warning is upgraded
• Alert matching runs on your phone, so your location does not need to be uploaded

More storm tools

• Real-time lightning from GOES satellites in 2D and 3D
• Save any radar moment to your library
• Share storms as links, images, or videos
• Custom colorways, light and dark themes
