If your child says reading is boring, they're probably right. Most reading apps are.

BoxFort is made by one person. A dad who got tired of apps built to maximize screen time instead of telling a good story, so he started writing, illustrating, and building his own. More than 90,000 families read here, and the free story "Let's Taco 'Bout It" has topped kids' book charts for two years straight.

Featuring Patrick, Arty, Kevin, and Dr. Toast.

WHY BOXFORT WORKS

THEY ACTUALLY WANT TO READ IT
BoxFort stories are genuinely funny, not game-ified phonics or talking animals saying simple sentences. When kids laugh, they relax. When they relax, they read more. That's the whole strategy.

ADVANCED LANGUAGE, PAINLESSLY
Our stories slip in Tier 2 vocabulary, words like "transcendental," "strategically," and "devastated," in context so entertaining that kids absorb them without realizing it. Read aloud to younger listeners, or hand it over for independent reading. Great for ages 4 to 9.

STORIES THAT MEAN SOMETHING
Every book goes somewhere real. Patrick tackles frustration. The Taconauts discover empathy. Characters who feel things spark conversations that last past bedtime.

WHAT'S INSIDE

THE WHOLE LIBRARY
60+ storybooks in one app, with new titles added regularly. Browse by character, find the free reads, or search for a favorite.

BUILT FOR PHONE AND TABLET
A clean, full-screen reader that opens into a two-page spread on tablets, the closest thing to a real picture book on a screen.

A PROFILE FOR EACH KID
Give every child their own profile so the right stories are always a tap away.

SAFE AND AD-FREE
No ads. No pop-ups. No in-story nonsense. A grown-up gate sits in front of purchases and account screens.
