Unlimited listening, free. No ads, no account, no catch. Éist turns any EPUB, PDF, fanfic link, or article into a natural-sounding audiobook. It works offline and includes read-along highlighting synced to the audio.

Éist (pronounced "esht", Irish for "listen") is a text-to-speech audiobook reader. Import an EPUB or PDF, paste a fanfic or article link, pick a voice, press play. Your books stay on your device and work with no internet once a voice is downloaded.

★ READ ALONG AS YOU LISTEN
Éist's read-along mode shows one word at a time, synced with the voice, with the focal letter highlighted so your eyes follow the text as you listen. Tap the bolt icon to switch read-along on, and use the sync dial to fine-tune the timing. Read-along is great for focus, following along, dyslexia support, and language learning.

★ LISTEN TO ANY EPUB OR PDF
Import any EPUB or PDF ebook and Éist reads it aloud with remarkably natural text-to-speech voices. Perfect for commutes, workouts, chores, studying, or winding down at the end of the day. Turn the documents and ebooks you never find time to read into audiobooks you can listen to anywhere.

★ LISTEN TO YOUR FANFIC LIBRARY
Paste a link — from Archive of Our Own (AO3), FanFiction.net, or Royal Road, or any article or blog post — and Éist turns it into a chaptered audiobook with the same natural voices and read-along mode as your regular books. If you've ever wished your favorite fanfiction had an audiobook, this is it. Fics and articles are free, with a generous allowance, and don't count against your 3-book library limit.

★ NATURAL AI VOICES
Choose from 60+ on-device AI voices across three text-to-speech engines — Kokoro, Piper and Supertonic — in 30+ languages, from Spanish, French and German to Polish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. Each voice has its own character and accent. Preview any voice before you commit, and switch narrators any time mid-book.

★ BRING YOUR OWN AUDIOBOOK
Add an MP3 or M4B audiobook to a matching EPUB or PDF. Éist plays your narrator and lets read-along follow the text on your device.

★ FULL PLAYBACK CONTROLS
• Adjustable speed from 0.5x to 3.0x
• Sleep timer
• Background playback with lock-screen and notification controls
• Chapter navigation, skip forward and back
• Bookmarks and reading progress

★ OFFLINE TEXT-TO-SPEECH
Download a voice once and listen forever with no internet connection. Your ebooks, your reading progress, and your audiobook audio all stay on your device — Éist is offline-first.

★ DISCOVER FREE BOOKS
Browse and download thousands of free public-domain ebooks from Project Gutenberg, right inside the app.

★ PRIVACY YOU CAN TRUST
No account required. No ads. We never sell your data. Usage analytics are anonymous, and email is entirely optional — we only ask if you would like a reminder before your trial ends, or if you choose to join our newsletter. Your books, your progress and your listening stay on your device.
