Your next ride is already on the map. Move the map to any place, tap Find tracks, and Cycle Maps shows the cycling and mountain-bike routes around it, and the rides other riders recorded there. Tap one to see it on the map, then tap Ride to follow it. In the app, each of these routes is called a track.

FIND A RIDE
• A map made for riding, with cycleways marked on it
• Up to 25 tracks around the middle of the map, within 5, 12, 25 or 50 km (or miles), drawn on the map behind the list
• For each track, its length, its climb where it is known, how far it is from the middle of the map and a small outline of its shape
• Favorites: tap the star to keep a track on this phone
• Directions to the start of a track, in your maps app
• Share track: send a link that opens the track on a web page, or in Cycle Maps on Android

RIDE IT
• Tap Ride and the app shows how much of the track is left
• Off the line? It shows how far you are from the track, and your phone buzzes once when you leave it
• Record while you ride a track: when you ride all of it, the app keeps your time and your best time on it

RECORD YOUR RIDE
• Tap Record: your ride is drawn on the map as you go, with its time and distance
• Pause or finish from the notification, without opening the app
• My rides keeps each ride on this phone, with its distance, moving time, average speed and an estimated climb
• Name a ride, send it as a GPX file, or delete it
• Share a ride with other riders if you want to: riders who search near there will find its line, its distance and its day, not who you are. The first and last 200 m stay off the map. When others have ridden the same way, your ride counts toward their route

WHERE THE TRACKS COME FROM
The routes are mapped by volunteers in OpenStreetMap and found through Waymarked Trails; the rides are recorded by Cycle Maps riders. You'll find them wherever riders have mapped or ridden: the more a place has been mapped, the more you'll find there. A search lists mapped routes up to 150 km long.

YOUR LOCATION
Your position is shown on the map. When you search, the app sends one point: the middle of the map, rounded to about 100 m before it is used or kept. A ride you record stays on your phone unless you share it. The privacy policy at getcyclemap.com says what is sent and why.
