A Modern Chess Game for Modern Chess players.

A 16 x 16 chess board with a 64-piece chess set,
32 pieces per player.

The default rule set is designed mathematically. All the pieces have been balanced out correctly so that none have a greater advantage than any other. Their range scales proportionally so the game's tempo matches traditional chess. It takes at least three moves for any of the Super pieces to get to the back row. And just like that all the other pieces have been balanced out.

We will be adding abstract ideas just for fun, to find different ways to play it.

WHAT MAKES OUR ADVANCED CHESS GAME DIFFERENT?

• A 16 by 16 chess board, not a small board with extra rules. Nor many duplicates of the same pieces. Four times the playing surface of standard chess.

• 64 pieces total, 32 per side. Eleven unique piece types, including the King, Queen, Prince, and Princess — the royal family.

• Every "Super piece" is marked with a gold ring on the board so you can tell at a glance which units carry extended powers.

• Built around clear, mathematically derived movement rules. The default rule set is internally consistent — no contradictions, no special-case patches.

HOW IT PLAYS

Standard chess rules apply where they make sense — turn order, capture, check, checkmate, stalemate, draw by repetition. The larger board gives every piece room to breathe and rewards long-range strategic thinking far more than fast tactical play.

The match length is capped at 100 moves per side, so games end in a reasonable time. If neither side has won by move 100, the game is a draw.

An on-screen Legend button identifies every piece and the squares it can move to, so new players can learn while they play.

FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO THINK A LOT!

This is not a casual five-minute chess app. The 16 by 16 board
with 64 pieces creates an enormous decision space — branching
factors much higher than those of an 8 by 8 board. Players who enjoy long
games, deep planning, and material balance will find a lot to explore.
If you like the knight's jumping power in traditional chess, this version multiplies that — multiple Super Knight pieces give you more of the same surprise.

Casual players are welcome too. The default rules and the
in-game Legend make the first game playable from the very start,
even if mastery takes much longer. And of course when you click on any piece to move, every square it can legally move to is highlighted automatically.

COMING SOON — ABSTRACT VARIANTS

Future updates will add optional abstract rule sets, designed
for fun rather than tournament play. Each variant will be
selectable from the Settings menu without overwriting the
mathematically-pure default rules.
