Mpowa finance - loan guid app is an educational app. We are not a lender.

We do not lend money, do not take loan applications, and do not connect you
with anyone who does. There is nothing here to apply for and nothing to sign.

It shows you how a personal loan in South Africa actually works — so that
when a credit provider's terms are in front of you, you know what you are
looking at.

HOW A LOAN WORKS, STAGE BY STAGE

Five stages, from tapping Apply to the last instalment, each with the one
thing worth checking. Why the affordability assessment is compulsory, what
the pre-agreement quotation must show before you sign, and why a registered
credit provider never asks for your OTP or for a fee before paying out.

WHERE EACH INSTALMENT ACTUALLY GOES

Every instalment is the same size, but what it buys changes. Mpowa finance - loan guid app shows the split at three points in one worked example:
in the first month, 36% of the payment is interest and the balance barely
moves. By the last month it is 4%. That is why paying a loan off early
removes interest that has not been charged yet.

THE THREE THINGS THAT MOVE THE COST

• The rate — check the period it is quoted for. 5% a month is not 5% a year.
Compounded, it is closer to 80%. The National Credit Act caps each kind of
credit, and a rate above the cap is unlawful, not merely expensive.
• The term — stretching the same loan from 12 months to 24 cuts the
instalment by roughly a third and doubles the interest you pay.
• The fees — the initiation fee, the monthly service fee and credit life
cover. An initiation fee deducted from R10 000 means R9 500 arrives.

WHY THE TOTAL COST IS WHAT YOU COMPARE

Two loans can advertise the same rate and cost very different amounts,
because one charges a bigger initiation fee or bundles insurance. The
quotation adds interest and every charge into one total, and that total — not
the instalment — is what makes two loans comparable.

A CHECKLIST YOU CAN ACTUALLY WORK THROUGH

Seventeen instructions across four stages: before you apply, reading the
terms, before you sign, and after you sign. Name the thing the money is for.
Work out what you can pay each month against the 30–35% of income usually
treated as a ceiling. Check the NCRCP number on the National Credit Regulator
register. Compare at least three quotations. Find out what happens if you
miss an instalment. Tick them off as you go; progress is saved on the device.
