SnapToSeat records classroom attendance without a roll call.

Your instructor puts a marker board on the screen at the front of the room. You scan the QR code in the middle of it, photograph the board from where you are sitting, and type the four-digit number showing on screen. That is the whole check-in, and it takes about fifteen seconds.

Because the photo is taken from your seat, the app can also work out roughly where in the room you were sitting — so your instructor gets a seating map of the class rather than just a list of names.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Scan the QR code in the middle of the board to join the session. Far from the screen? Pinch to zoom or tap 2x / 4x.
2. Photograph the whole board from your seat. A circle and a marker count show when the board is centred and fully in view. Stay seated: the photo is what places you in the room, so walking closer changes the answer.
3. Type the four-digit code showing on the board. It changes every few seconds, which is what shows you were actually in the room. You are checked in the moment you type the last digit.

The app remembers your name and student ID, so the next class is just those three steps again.

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

No account and no password. Your name and student ID are typed once, remembered on your phone, and sent with each check-in so your instructor's roster shows a name rather than a number.

No location permission is requested and none is used. Your position comes from the photo of the board — not from GPS, and not from anything running in the background.

The board photo is deleted as soon as your seat has been calculated. It is not stored and not kept.

No advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party analytics or tracking software of any kind.

YOUR OWN RECORD

Every check-in is saved on your phone and grouped by class, so you can see for yourself which sessions you attended — useful when an attendance grade does not look right. Rename a class, or delete entries, whenever you like.

WHAT YOU NEED

Your instructor must be running a SnapToSeat session and showing the board. The app is only useful in a class that is using it; there is nothing to set up on your side beyond typing your name and student ID once.
