Katha is an offline communication board for non-verbal and minimally verbal people, built for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

It runs entirely on the device. There is no account to create, no internet connection required, and nothing the app does ever leaves the device.

SPELLING BOARD
A full on-screen keyboard in English, Bangla, and Hindi, each with its own proper layout — QWERTY for English, an Avro-style phonetic layout for Bangla, and Devanagari with matra and halant support for Hindi. Word prediction (tuned per language from a built-in dictionary, sentence context, and the person's own word history) offers the next word before it's finished being typed.

PHRASE BANK
Save a whole sentence once, then recall it with a single tap. Phrases are organized into folders, so things said often — "I need the bathroom," "Can we take a break?" — are always one tap away.

SPEAK
Tap to hear the full sentence spoken aloud, or long-press any single word to hear just that word. Speech rate and pitch are adjustable per language.

BUILT FOR HOW AAC IS ACTUALLY USED
Dwell selection (hold instead of tap) and row-column scanning for switch access. Adjustable key size, with a 72dp minimum touch target throughout. Adjustable font size. A light theme, a dark theme, and a high-contrast theme meeting WCAG AAA contrast.

THREE LANGUAGES, FULLY SUPPORTED
English, Bangla (বাংলা), and Hindi (हिन्दी) — keyboard layout, word prediction, speech, and every label and screen-reader hint in the app.

PRIVACY, BY DESIGN
Katha collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no network calls of any kind — the app behaves identically in airplane mode as it does online. Everything typed, every saved phrase, and every setting stays in local storage on the device. If the app ever crashes, a local, plain-text log is kept on-device only, and is only ever shared if the person using the device explicitly chooses to share or email it themselves — nothing is sent automatically.

Katha is a one-time purchase — buy it once, yours for good, with free updates as Katha grows. No subscription, no ads.
