Prepare for your journeyman electrician exam with short NEC practice sessions, calculation explanations, and timed article-finding drills.
WHAT YOU CAN PRACTICE
• 500 questions across general requirements, wiring and protection, wiring methods, equipment, special occupancies, and calculations.
• Explanations and NEC references, with diagrams and step-by-step solutions on selected calculation questions.
• Spaced repetition, topic practice, a guided learning path, daily goals, and a readiness indicator based on your practice.
• Codebook Race: five chapter-to-article lookups against the clock. Each wrong pick adds 30 seconds. This trains article recognition; use your physical codebook to practice finding exact rules.
• Texas practice: 85 questions, a combined four-hour timer, and separate knowledge/calculation scores. California practice: 100 questions over 4.5 hours. Core practice: 25 questions over one hour. Flag answers, revisit questions, and review topic results.
EXAM FORMAT AND EDITION
The real Texas PSI exam uses separate 130-minute knowledge and 110-minute calculation portions with no time transfer. OhmPrep currently uses one combined timer and scores all practice items. Its six-topic practice sampling is not PSI's detailed blueprint.
Questions are based on the 2023 NEC with selected 2026 updates. State exam pools exclude explicitly tagged questions from the other edition; comprehensive 2026 coverage is still being reviewed. Confirm the code edition and reference-book rules with your exam provider.
