SciBaby is a baby sleep and night crying support app born from infant research at the Kuroda Lab, Institute of Science Tokyo (formerly Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Medical and Dental University).
Based on the scientific discovery of the "Transport Response" — an innate calming reflex found in mammalian infants — SciBaby guides you through a 5-minute carrying walk that helps your baby fall asleep naturally, with clear voice guidance.
Pair it with a wearable heart rate sensor to visualize your baby's heart rate and crying time in easy-to-read graphs.

◆ Recommended for ◆
- Moms and dads struggling with a baby who "won't sleep" or with exhausting night crying
- Parents who want a soothing method backed by science, not guesswork
- Anyone who loves data and wants to see their baby's heart rate and sleep in graphs
- Parents starting sleep training
- Families who want to contribute to real infant research by using the app

◆ What you can do with SciBaby ◆

[Carrying Walk Mode]
Voice guidance walks you through the flow: a 5-minute carrying walk → sitting with your baby → laying them down.
The app times each step, so you never have to guess the right moment.

[Easy Carrying Walk (no sensor needed)]
Try the carrying-walk soothing method right away — no sensor, no extra device, and no waiting time.
On-screen tips show you how to walk for the best results.

[Sleep Mode (sleep monitoring)]
Record your baby's heart rate for up to 10 hours during sleep with a wearable sensor.
A watch-over feature alerts you to early signs of waking and to a detached sensor.

[Swing Mode]
Track and record soothing sessions using an electric baby swing or similar device.

[Records & Graphs]
- Heart rate trends shown in color-coded graphs based on your baby's state
- Crying time visualized as a graph
- Session memos and pinch-to-zoom graph viewing
- Records sync to the cloud so you can review them anytime

◆ The science behind SciBaby ◆
- In 2013, the Kuroda Lab was the first in the world to demonstrate the "Transport Response": infants calm down and stop crying when carried by a walking caregiver — a reflex shared across mammals.
- A 2022 study reported that most crying infants stopped crying during a 5-minute carrying walk, and about half of them fell asleep.
- SciBaby turns these findings into an app. It connects with the Polar Verity Sense wearable heart rate sensor to visualize your baby's physiological state. (Polar 360 and Polar Loop are also supported for research use.)
- Developed with support from JST CREST and the Institute for Parent-Child Neuroscience.

◆ Join the research ◆
The measurement data you share helps advance research on infant crying and sleep — including night-crying control and AI-based sleep-onset prediction.
Simply using the app contributes to research that will make parenting easier in the future.

◆ Please note ◆
- When using a sensor, always read the in-app safety instructions first.
- This app is not a medical device. If you have concerns about your baby's health, please consult a doctor.
