ClearNights tells you exactly when the night sky is worth going outside for.

Most weather apps stop at "cloudy or clear." ClearNights goes further, scoring every upcoming hour for real stargazing: folding together darkness, cloud cover, atmospheric seeing (how steady the air is), and transparency (how clear it is) into a single 0–100 score. Forecasts use NOAA's GFS model, refreshed four times a day, and the seeing model is calibrated on observatory measurements. Plan the perfect night out with your eyes, binoculars, or a telescope.

WHAT YOU GET
• A per-hour stargazing score for tonight and the nights ahead
• Your best viewing window, surfaced at a glance, with live status while it is on
• The details that matter: seeing, transparency, cloud cover, limiting magnitude, moon phase and moonrise or moonset, and twilight
• Everything in your local time, down to the hour, on the 12- or 24-hour clock your language uses

CELESTIAL EVENTS
ClearNights also tells you what's happening overhead and whether you'll actually be able to see it from where you are:
• Meteor showers, with peak timing and where to look
• Planetary conjunctions and oppositions
• Full moons and lunar eclipses
• Aurora (northern lights) potential, based on NOAA's geomagnetic Kp forecast

COMING UP
The Events tab's Coming up calendar lists the meteor showers, lunar eclipses, and planet events ahead, worked out for your spot. Up tonight on the Tonight tab shows what's in your sky: darkness, the Moon, and the planets.

SMART ALERTS
Set it once and get a well-timed heads-up when tonight is worth it, plus a heads-up two days before a meteor shower, lunar eclipse or planet event. Choose the minimum score that alerts you (Good, Very Good or Excellent), the hours you care about (no 4 AM alerts unless you want them), and which events you want to hear about.

JOURNAL
Log each night out for tonight, last night, or an earlier date, and earn badges as your log grows. The app asks each evening and each morning whether you got out.

PLAN AROUND YOUR SKIES
Save your backyard, a favorite dark spot, or your next trip, and compare them at a glance. Find anywhere by city search or your current location, or by US ZIP code.

BUILT FOR STARGAZERS
A clean, dark design made for the field. Accurate sun and moon positions, twilight, and darkness are computed for your exact location. Share tonight's forecast as an image whenever you like.
