Synapse brings together 45 short brain games for memory, attention, logic, math and speed, from Sudoku and Tower of Hanoi to reaction tests and number hunts. No ads, no account, and it all works offline.

Every game has its own ladder of levels, up to 15. A flawless run moves you up a level and a slip moves you down one, so each game settles at the level that suits you. Levels 1 and 2 of every game are free. One optional purchase unlocks all the other levels in every game, including games added later: paid once, no subscription.

What's inside

• Memory (9 games): remember a shopping list, a phone number or a sequence of signals, recall coloured blocks and fingerprints, and keep track of who is still inside the Magic House.
• Attention (11 games): find the items with no match at a crime scene, the most common gem, the one face that is different and the missing number, and catch numbers in your peripheral vision.
• Math (7 games): check whether equations are right, fill in missing signs, work out fractions of numbers, solve math crosswords and keep a running total in your head.
• Logic (8 games): Sudoku, Tower of Hanoi, spy anagrams, connect-the-dots flows, tap-away arrows and Number Match.
• Speed (10 games): reaction tests, Schulte tables, swipes, colour words and Rotor, where you tap the numbers in order while the whole grid keeps turning.

Sudoku

Classic 9x9 Sudoku with pencil notes, three hints and three mistakes per puzzle. Each of its 480 puzzles has exactly one solution and can be solved by logic, without guessing. As you climb, fewer numbers are given and the reasoning gets deeper.

Your progress

• A daily workout picks three games for a short session of about seven minutes
• Earn a mastery badge for reaching the top level of each game, 45 in all, in the Badges tab
• See your personal best in every game in the Scores tab
• Your Profile shows your skill levels and a "Last 7 days" chart of the games you finished in each skill
• Keep a daily streak going
• Back up your levels, scores, badges and chart to a file, and restore them on a new phone

Reminders and looks

• Reminders at a random time of day, never during your quiet hours. If you allow notifications they start at twice a day; choose once a day or every other day instead, set your own quiet hours, or switch them off in the Reminders tab
• Dark and light themes

What it does not do

• No adverts of any kind
• No subscription: the unlock is a single payment
• No account, no sign-up, no email
• No analytics and no tracking
• Your progress stays on your device, and reminders are created on the phone
• Plays entirely offline. The network is used for one thing only: buying the unlock or restoring one you already bought

A note from the developer

I built Synapse because I wanted to spend my idle minutes on something better than endless scrolling. The brain trainers I tried were genuinely good, but the adverts wore me down — some days I watched more adverts than I played.

So I made the app I wanted to use. The first two levels of every game are free because that is enough to know whether you like it, and the one-off unlock is there because a one-person project still has bills. No adverts, no subscription, no data collection. That part is not changing.

If you find a bug or have an idea for a game, get in touch through freebraingames.net. You can try the games in your browser there too.

Enjoy the training.
