Spoken Korean often doesn't sound the way it's spelled. 감사합니다 ("thank you") is spelled with 합 (hap) but said with 함 (ham): gam-sa-ham-ni-da. Hansori helps you hear sound changes like this in everyday phrases, then say them back.

SOUND CARDS: LISTEN FIRST, THEN SEE
• Hear a phrase at natural speed with no text on screen, then pick what you heard.
• See the spelling, the sound spelling (how it's said, in Hangul), the romanization, and the meaning.
• Compare a slow, syllable-by-syllable "spelling" reading with the "natural" audio.
• See why: some cards show the same sound change across several phrases; others animate the spelling turning into the sound.
• Say it on the spot, then hear it in example sentences and bookmark the ones you want.

PRACTICE MODES
• Spell: listen, then tap syllable tiles in order to build the correct spelling. Sound-alike traps are mixed in.
• Loop: 3, 5, 10, or 15 minutes. On some turns you repeat what you hear; on others you hear only the English and say it in Korean.
• Quiz: hear the English, say a new sentence in Korean, get a score.
• Today's review: when phrases are due, a short review (up to 8 cards) opens once a day.
• Shadowing timer: up to 60 minutes. The countdown can also show in a notification.

SPEAKING FEEDBACK
Say a phrase out loud to get a three-level badge and see which words matched. It's a word-by-word check using your phone's speech recognition service (on most phones, Google's), not an accent analysis, and it needs an internet connection plus microphone access.

WHAT'S INSIDE
• 46 situation packs (greetings, cafés, the pharmacy, K-drama reactions…) and 9 idiom, verb combo, and nuance packs (Premium)
• 616 phrases, 2,226 example sentences, and 4,312 review sentences
• Korean audio and spoken English meanings for every built-in sentence
• Slow playback and romanization written the way each phrase sounds

MY PHRASES
Save phrases from the packs or type your own. Play them at full or slow speed, hear the meaning, shadow them, or record your voice (the last 5 takes per phrase are kept; scoring a kept take needs Android 13 or later). A phrase you type uses the built-in audio only if it matches one in the app; otherwise your phone's text-to-speech voice reads it.

PROGRESS
Streaks, a study calendar, study time, estimated mastery for each phrase, and a list of tricky phrases to revisit. Optional daily reminder.

AUDIO AND PRIVACY
All speech in Hansori is synthesized (text-to-speech), except recordings you make of your own voice. Most of the audio downloads from Google Play right after you install; after that, built-in audio plays without a connection. No account, no ads, no tracking. Your practice history and recordings stay on your device. If Android backup is on, your practice history (not your recordings) is included in your own backup. To check your speaking, the audio goes to your phone's speech recognition service.
