Student Compass helps international and exchange students settle in the Netherlands and navigate student life in Maastricht. Find housing and roommates, complete essential administrative steps, discover local places and events, meet other students, make plans together and access exclusive student discounts at participating partner locations.

Moving abroad means more than completing paperwork. It means finding your people, understanding how things work and gradually making a new city feel like home. Student Compass brings the practical and social sides of that experience together.

SETTLE IN

Follow clear guidance for pre-arrival, your first week, your first month and ongoing tasks, including Studielink, municipality registration, BSN, DigiD, banking, insurance, permits, taxes and public transport.

FIND HOUSING

Browse housing from partner providers, look for roommates, create housing alerts and use practical guides to understand renting in the Netherlands.

MEET PEOPLE AND MAKE PLANS

Find students through Buddies based on faculty, language and interests. Join or create activities, see what is happening at local places and message other students without exchanging phone numbers.

EXPLORE MAASTRICHT

Discover cafés, study spots, nightlife, sports, culture, nature and events in list or map view. Save places, read reviews and organise an activity around somewhere you would like to visit.

FIND USEFUL SERVICES

Find student-relevant banking, insurance, mobile, internet, transport and other local services.

ASK SCOUT

Ask Scout, the Student Compass AI assistant, about practical steps, housing, Maastricht and what to do next.

CHECK IN AND GET REWARDED

Check in at participating partner locations to earn points and access any exclusive student discounts available at that location.

Whether you are preparing to arrive or have already lived here for years, Student Compass helps you find your footing, find your people and feel at home sooner.
