Lingobelle is a language exchange platform for women learning languages. Find and talk to new friends, no matter the distance in between.

Fill out your profile. Highlight the languages you speak and the language(s) you are learning. You can contribute to the daily feed and practise your written language through sending postcards to the feed and keeping a scrapbook of your day-to-day language learning journey.

Browse the feed and offer your support to friends learning your native language, and be guided in your target language in return. Then make friends with other Belles and exchange direct messages, photos and voice notes, all stored in your personal memory box. When you're ready, schedule in-app calls. Make as many friendships, in as many languages as you like. All at your own pace.

Lingobelle is purposefully a friendship first forum. Through the principle of reciprocal learning, whereby you give as much as you receive, Belles can build real connections with real people. No AI chat bots. No conversations with strangers. But real women invested in and supporting other women.

Why Lingobelle?
As a friendship first forum, Lingobelle has no leaderboards. There are no streaks, incentives or haptics; no gamification in the app. There is no sense of artificial urgency. Rather, it is a platform for enjoying language learning through growing real connections with real people.

With this in mind, Lingobelle is for women only. It is intended as a safe space. A restorative environment, free from harassment or unwanted advances, where women are not judged or shamed or made to feel discomfort.

How it works: five steps to friends across the world

1. Profile: Your languages, and your level.
Indicate the languages you speak (native or fluent) and the language(s) you are learning, and roughly the level you're at. No exam certification required. Lingobelle then suggests other Belles with complementary language skills.

2. Scrapbook: Your personal language learning log.
Keep written notes and voice memos in your target language, photos, even video clips. Filter your scrapbook by each language you are learning. Then learn as fluent Belles leave their words of advice, and offer the same to learners of your native language. Through this reciprocity, watch your friendships grow.

3. The Feed: Postcards from around the world.
Entries in your scrapbook are shared as a postcard to the daily feed, a living wall of women doing the same across the world. Add a note in your target language. Filter the feed by each language you are learning.

4. Memory Boxes: A keepsake box for every friendship.
You share a memory box with each friend. Photos, voice notes and letters, all kept safe to look back on whenever you like.

5. Practice together: Face to face.
Meet for planned video calls with Belles you're friends with. Our scheduling feature manages time zone differences and can factor in personal availability. Don't forget our core value of reciprocity: a little of her language, a little of yours.

Built to operate in up to 27 languages, Lingobelle is free to join and take part. Come and talk to new friends, no matter the distance in between.
