Pulse keeps a restaurant host stand on schedule.

Restroom checks every 30 minutes. Kitchen updates every 15 minutes. Both anchored to opening time and fixed for the whole day.

This is not a countdown timer. Completing a task never moves the next one. If the 11:15 kitchen update is completed at 11:19, the next one is still due at 11:30. The schedule is the schedule.

HOW IT WORKS

Two large cards, readable from across a dining room. Each shows the next scheduled time, the countdown to it, and when it was last completed.

Five minutes before a task is due, its card turns amber as a heads-up. At the scheduled time the card flashes red and the Complete button unlocks, and it keeps flashing until somebody does the task. Nothing can be checked off early. There is no sound and no vibration, ever.

Tap Complete and the host types their initials, so every check shows who did it and when.

Miss a few and nothing is quietly dropped. The card shows how many are outstanding and asks for them one at a time, oldest first, recording the scheduled time and the lateness of each.

FOR THE MANAGER

A PIN-locked admin area shows the day at a glance: on time, late and missed checks, a chart of the hours when checks slip, the full activity log with who completed each one, and the operating hours for every day of the week.

Switch on an optional third check, changing the lemonade ice every 15 minutes, and switch it off again whenever you like.

Text the day's report to a saved number in one tap. Pulse opens the tablet's own messaging app with the report written out; nothing is sent until you press send.

BUILT FOR A TABLET ON A STAND

Landscape, full screen, screen stays awake, and the tablet can be locked to Pulse. No login, no accounts. The shift starts and ends on its own from the restaurant's operating hours, and it switches to a dark look in the evening.

WORKS WITH NO INTERNET

Everything runs on the device. Nothing is uploaded, no account is required, and the app makes no network requests at all. The activity log is stored on the tablet and keeps 90 days of history.

RELIABLE BY DESIGN

The schedule is recomputed from the clock every second rather than counted down in memory, so a refresh, an app restart, a tablet reboot or a power cut cannot lose track of where the day is.
