Starline is a media player built for your own collection. Enjoy movies, TV shows and other media files stored on your Android device, USB drive or home network—all in a clean interface designed for both Android TV and touch devices.

Your media, your sources

Open media from:

• Local device storage
• USB drives
• SMB network shares
• WebDAV servers
• NFS storage
• User-provided HTTP and HTTPS links

Playback connects directly to the source you choose. Starline does not include, host, sell or provide a movie, TV, live-channel or streaming catalog.

A library built around your collection

Choose exactly which folders to add. Starline scans those folders and creates a visual library without moving or modifying your original files.

• Automatic movie and TV-show organization
• Seasons and episodes grouped together
• Continue Watching, history and favorites
• Search by title, actor, genre or year
• Smart collections based on available metadata
• Multiple poster, list and compact views
• Filters for source, year, genre and video quality
• File-based badges for resolution, HDR, frame rate, audio format and video codec when detected

Metadata and artwork

When metadata lookup is enabled, Starline can retrieve titles, descriptions, cast information, episode details and artwork from TheTVDB. You can correct a match, edit the displayed title or exclude a file from the library. Your media files are not uploaded for metadata matching.

Metadata provided by TheTVDB (https://thetvdb.com). Starline is not affiliated with or endorsed by TheTVDB.

Playback features

• Resume from where you stopped
• Automatic next-episode playback
• Previous and next episode navigation
• Multiple audio tracks
• Subtitles with appearance and selection controls
• Aspect-ratio controls
• Playback history and favorites
• Common media containers including MKV, MP4, AVI, TS, MOV and WebM

Actual playback compatibility depends on the media codec, device capabilities and source connection.

Open media from other apps

Other Android apps can send user-selected media to Starline through standard Android media intents. Starline acts only as the player and does not search for or supply third-party media sources.

Made for TV, phone and tablet

Navigate the TV interface with a remote control or D-pad. On Android phones and tablets, use touch-friendly controls designed for smaller screens.

Privacy-focused

No Starline account is required to organize and play your collection. The app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not sell personal data.

Network access is used only for functions you choose, such as connecting to your media sources, discovering devices on your local network, retrieving metadata and artwork, and verifying purchases or trial access where applicable. Playback traffic from your own media sources does not pass through Starline’s servers.

Use Starline only with media you own, created yourself, or are otherwise authorized to access. Starline does not bypass DRM or grant rights to third-party content.
