VocaGuard protects you and your loved ones from phone scams by analyzing your calls in real time and warning you the moment it detects a scam — before any money or personal details are handed over. It is built especially for
seniors and the family members who help protect them.

HOW IT WORKS
When a call arrives, VocaGuard screens the conversation in real time and checks it against known scam patterns — fake bank and government calls, tech-support fraud, prize and lottery scams, investment and cryptocurrency scams, and more. If it detects a scam, it shows a clear on-screen warning DURING the call so you can hang up in time. Every call is saved to your history so you can review it later.

WHY VOCAGUARD RUNS A FOREGROUND SERVICE (CORE FUNCTIONALITY)
Scam protection only works if VocaGuard is actively watching your call the entire time it is happening. To do this, VocaGuard runs a foreground service while a call is in progress:
- It keeps real-time call monitoring and scam analysis running for the full duration of the call, so a warning can appear the instant a scam is detected. This cannot be deferred or interrupted by the system without the protection failing at the exact moment it is needed.

- A persistent, clearly visible notification is shown the whole time monitoring is active, so you always know it is running.
- You can stop monitoring and end the call at any time from the call screen or the notification.
Without the foreground service, Android could pause the app mid-call and the scam warning would never reach you.

FAMILY GUARD MODE
Worried about an elderly parent? Turn on Family Guard. When a scam is detected on their phone, Voc a family caregiver you choose — so help is never far away. (Caregiver alerts are sent securelythrough the VocaGuard service; the app does not send SMS from your phone.)

KEY FEATURES
- Real-time scam detection during live calls
- Clear on-screen scam warnings while the call is active
- Caregiver alerts (Family Guard mode)
- Call history with transcripts
- Dial back missed calls from your history
- Contact-aware: skips screening for people you already know
- In-call controls: speaker, keypad for phone menus, call recording, and hang up

WHY VOCAGUARD NEEDS EACH PERMISSION
- Microphone: to carry the audio of a monitored call so it can be analyzed for scams in real time. A persistent notification is shown whenever a monitored call is active, and you can end it at any time.
- Foreground service: a short-lived service that keeps the app active while a monitored call is being set up and handled, so the scam warning can appear during the call.
- Phone and call permissions (phone state, answer calls, call phone): to detect, screen, and handle incoming and returned calls — the core purpose of the app.
- Contacts: to skip scam screening for numbers already saved in your contacts.

VocaGuard never records or shares your calls for any purpose other than detecting scams to protect you.
