Explore the fascinating world of cellular automata with Automata: Evolution Simulator. Witness how complex, beautiful systems emerge from a set of simple mathematical rules in this comprehensive simulation experience.
Whether you are a math enthusiast, a student of computer science, or simply curious about emergent behavior, Automata provides a powerful laboratory for creating and observing artificial life.
Design and Create Use the interactive grid designer to craft your initial seeds. Use the precision pen tool for detailed work or utilize the shape stamper to instantly place iconic structures like Gliders, Pulsars, and Light-weighted Spaceships.
Simulate and Control Watch your patterns evolve generation by generation. Use the high-performance engine to run simulations at your preferred pace. Adjust the speed slider for fine-grained observation or fast-forward through time. Enable grid-wrapping to create a toroidal universe where life flows infinitely across the edges of the screen.
Analyze and Discover Go beyond simple observation with advanced analytical tools. Track the population health in real-time through the live stats dashboard, including density and growth indicators. Review your simulation’s history with interactive line charts and detailed session reports showing peak population and total lifespan.
Library and Presets Save your most successful designs to your personal library for future study. Experiment with a collection of built-in presets, from simple oscillators to the complex Gosper Glider Gun, to see the engine in full effect.
Educational Foundation Learn the science behind the simulator. The app includes a guide to the fundamental rules of life, death, and reproduction that drive the engine, helping you understand the logic behind every evolving cell.
