Bag Guard turns your phone into an anti-theft alarm. Put it in your bag, backpack or purse, arm it with one tap, lock it with the power button and go for a swim, to the bar or to the gym shower. When someone moves the bag, the phone warns, then plays a loud siren, flashes the flashlight, vibrates and lights up the screen. A thief looks for the target nobody is watching; noise takes away exactly that.

HOW IT WORKS
• Tap “Arm the alarm”, lock the phone with the power button and put it away during the countdown you set yourself.
• Someone touches your things? A short warning, then the siren.
• Only you can stop it: unlock the phone as usual, with your fingerprint, face or PIN.

BAGSY AND HIS WIDGETS
Bagsy, the Bag Guard pug, waits on your home screen. Every day he relaxes somewhere new, from Paris and Santorini to Bali and New York, with a line of his own. It’s a daily dose of inspiration for your next trip, and the widget also shows today’s date and how long your protection lasts. A tap opens arming straight away, and so do the “Arm Bag Guard” tile in Quick Settings and a long press on the app’s icon.

WHY IT IS HARD TO GET AROUND
The phone guards locked, so without your unlock nobody can use it or close the app. Switching the screen on without unlocking ends in the siren. So does a wrong PIN on the lock screen: after the first there are 3 seconds to unlock, the second sets the siren off at once. Taking the SIM card out sets off the siren at once; pulling the charger out sets off a warning, and the siren after 3 seconds. While guarding, the app switches on Do Not Disturb, so calls and messages do not buzz in the bag. Switching it off, or switching airplane mode on, is an alarm. The siren plays as an alarm from the phone’s speaker, also with headphones connected, and the app keeps the volume at the maximum itself. If somebody switches the phone off or restarts it, the siren comes back when it is on again and plays until you unlock it.

SIMPLE
A few screens, big type. Before the first arming the app walks you through the screen lock, blocking switching the phone off (matched to your model, Samsung, Motorola, Xiaomi and others, and checked with a real try), wrong PIN detection and Do Not Disturb access, then through switching on Google’s Find Hub, which helps find a stolen phone.

HONEST
• No account, no ads, no tracking; no location, contacts or photos. Only the purchase check (Google Play and RevenueCat, with an anonymous ID) and Google Play’s check for a newer version leave the phone. The motion sensors run only while guarding.
• It will not prevent theft and will not locate the phone; that is what Google’s Find Hub is for. Extra prevention, not certainty.
• No app can block a forced restart with the buttons; the siren returns only once the phone is back on.
• Swiping Bag Guard away from recent apps does not stop the guard. Only a force stop in Settings, or the aggressive memory cleaners some phones have, end it.
• No alerts to a watch or by text message.

PRICE
The first 3 armings are on us: see how the app works, with no commitment. Choose a day (a one-time purchase) or a week, a month or a year (subscriptions that renew by themselves until you end them). The yearly plan starts with free days for new subscribers. How many, and the prices, are shown in the app before you buy. You end a subscription in the Google Play Store or with a button in the app. Payments and refunds are handled by Google Play.

Requires Android with a screen lock set (PIN, pattern or password). Wrong PIN detection uses device admin access only so that Android tells the app about a failed unlock attempt, and that the right PIN followed it. The app never sees the PIN and cannot lock or erase anything; switch it off in Settings before uninstalling.
