■ Every recipe you save — no account, no limits

Smidgen keeps your recipes on your phone. There is no sign-up and nothing to unlock: recipes, cookbooks and photo imports are unlimited, and one small banner ad at the bottom — no full-screen ads — keeps the app running.

▸ Import from a camera photo or from pasted text — you review what was read before anything is saved
▸ Search YOUR recipes by ingredient ("what can I cook with chicken + rice")
▸ A grocery list that stacks duplicates ("2 cup + 1 cup flour = 3 cup flour") and can group items by store
▸ Cookbooks with sub-categories, A-Z sort and in-cookbook search
▸ One-tap JSON backup — your data, your file, your call

■ Why Smidgen

▸ Your recipes stay yours
No account, and no server of our own. Your recipes live on your device (and in your phone's own Google backup, if that is on). Export a JSON backup to Drive, email or anywhere your share sheet goes, and restore it on a new phone.

▸ Photo import that reads on your phone
Point the camera at a recipe card or a cookbook page. The text is read on the device itself — the photo is never uploaded — and you check the title, ingredients and steps before they fill the form. Paste a recipe from a website or a message and it fills the same form for you to check; if the app had to guess the split, it says so.

▸ Ingredient search across your own set
Smidgen indexes every ingredient at save time (normalized: "Fresh Tomatoes" → "tomato"; "cups" → "cup"). Type "chicken, rice" and get back every recipe in your collection that has both.

▸ A grocery list that actually stacks
Add three recipes to your grocery list. "2 cup flour" + "1 cup flour" + "0.5 cup flour" becomes one line: 3.5 cup flour. Different units stay separate — no silent unit-mixing — and the app tells you how many to add up by hand. Group the list by store when you shop at more than one.

▸ Cookbooks done right
Sort each cookbook A-Z, newest-first or oldest-first. Sub-categories one level deep (Beef / Pork / Chicken under "Mains"). In-cookbook search filters just that cookbook, not your whole library.

■ Who is this for?

▸ Home cooks who want their saved recipes searchable BY ingredient.
▸ Anyone copying recipes from cookbooks and cards who is tired of typing them in.
▸ Anyone tired of grocery lists that list "flour" three times instead of once.
▸ People who don't want yet another sign-up.

■ Privacy

▸ Privacy policy: https://chphch.github.io/app-profit-pipeline-legal/recipe-keeper/privacy-policy.html
▸ Support / feedback: chaosphch@gmail.com
▸ Data Safety: no account and no server of our own — recipes, cookbooks and grocery lists stay on your device (and in your phone's own Android backup, if on), and a backup file goes only where you send it. The banner ad does send data to Google AdMob: advertising identifier, approximate location, app interactions and diagnostics, for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. Photo import reads text on the device itself — the image and its text are never uploaded; Google's ML Kit, which does the reading, sends Google diagnostics and a per-installation ID (privacy policy §2-2).

■ Help support development

Smidgen is supported by a single banner ad. Feedback and bug reports are welcome at chaosphch@gmail.com — they are what shape the next release.
