Dev Gaatha tells the stories of our gods the way they were meant to be heard: a few quiet minutes at a time.

Short films from the Puranas, the epics and living folk tradition, made with reverence and free to watch. Narrated in Hindi, with captions — and the whole app — in ten languages: Hindi, English, Bangla, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam and Odia.

WHAT YOU GET

• Kathas as short films. Why Shiva is called Neelkanth. How Ganesha got his elephant head. The twelve Jyotirlingas. The nine forms of Durga. Seven days, seven deities. Every story names its source.

• Your day at a glance: today's tithi and when it ends, Rahu kaal, the day's deity, and the fast that falls today or tomorrow — with moonrise for Sankashti and Purnima, and the parana time for Ekadashi.

• Navratri, day by day: which form of the Goddess is worshipped today, her bhog, her mantra and her story.

• A festival and fast calendar you can actually read: what is coming, why it is kept, and "remind me" the evening before.

• Aartis and the Hanuman Chalisa to listen to or read, and an aarti you can perform on screen, clockwise, the traditional way.

• Kathas to listen to: temple stories of forty deities and the katha of every major festival, told by a narrator over paintings. They keep playing with the phone locked.

• Sankalp: the Hanuman Chalisa or your deity's mantra jap for 11, 21 or 40 days, or a weekly vrat such as sixteen Mondays. The app keeps count with you.

• Greeting cards: good morning, festivals, the day's panchang, the month's fasts — with a deity's painting and a verse from scripture. Send on WhatsApp or save to your phone.

• Your own region's calendar. In Bangla, Odia, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati you see your own festivals, dates, month and year, and the timings your panchang is read for.

• Larger text for older eyes, and stories saved for when the network is weak.

NO ACCOUNT, NO SUBSCRIPTION

There is no sign-in and nothing to buy. The app is free and supported by ads. Your choices, your sankalps and your saved stories stay on your phone.

A NOTE ON THE STORIES

These are original retellings, not scripture. Where a story comes from folk or temple tradition rather than the Puranas, the app says so. Traditions differ between regions and families. Panchang values are calculated for your city and are approximate; your family may keep a day differently.
