Stages is a field recording companion for people learning a language and culture where it is spoken — field workers, language learners, and the consultants who support them.

Capture what you hear and see, and keep it organized around the people and events that make up your learning — all on your phone, all offline.

RECORD
• Capture audio recordings, photos, and videos of events and activities
• Type or record notes
• Log observations while they're fresh

CARRY OUT YOUR PLAN
• Activity Plans you create in the Stages desktop app sync to your phone
• Work through your Activity Plans in the field, with everything you capture connected to the appropriate plan

PEOPLE
• Keep a record of the people you learn from
• Connect recordings and photos to the right people

WORKS WHERE YOU WORK
Stages is built for places with little or no connectivity. Everything works completely offline — no internet required.

SYNC WITH STAGES DESKTOP
Pair with the free Stages desktop app for Windows and macOS (https://www.stagessoftwaresolutions.com/downloads) by scanning a QR code, and sync over your own local Wi-Fi — no cloud involved. Your recordings and notes flow to the desktop for analysis and review; your Activity Plans flow back to your phone, ready for the field.

YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
Your recordings, photos, and plans live on your own devices. Syncing happens directly between your phone and your computer, protected with end-to-end encryption. Nothing is uploaded to any cloud service. Anonymous error reports help us fix problems.

Stages is developed by Stages Software Solutions for culture and language acquisition (CLA) fieldwork.
