App that allows reading with the voice synthesizer the text entered using the keyboard, it is designed for people with communication problems affecting their speech.

After writing a message in the text box on the main screen and pressing ENTER, the message is read by the speech synthesizer and stored in the user's history. This history is displayed on the screen and by clicking on one of those messages, this will be read aloud again.

PictoDroid Lite

accegal
READ ALL THIS DESCRIPTION TO KNOW HOW TO HAVE ENGLISH PICTS!

PictoDroid Lite is an application for Android devices that allows users to communicate through the use of pictograms or Picts (signs that represent schematically a symbol, a real object or a figure). This Lite version only allows to express very specific actions in the punctual mode, creating sentences starting with:

-let's go to...
-I want to play...
-I want to go to the bathroom...
-I want to drink...
-I want to eat....
-I am...

Upon the selection of each Pict, the system proceeds to read the pict selected.

In accumulative mode, it allows the creation of simple sentences, by the selection of subjects, verbs, objects, adverbs and adjectives. Upon the completion of the whole sentence created by picts, the system reads the complete sentence.

All Picts may be modified or deleted and you may add as many as needed. The process is explained in the application manual available in www.accegal.org. If you have questions or difficulty in setting PictoDroid Lite you can contact us by email contacto@accegal.org and we will try to help you.

The user's guide is available in http://www.accegal.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/manual-pictodroid-lite-english-v2.pdf

The picts in english for the punctual mode can be found in http://www.accegal.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/PictoDroidLite.zip and for the accumulative mode in http://www.accegal.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/PictoDroidLite_AC.zip. To use them just remove the folders PictoDroidLite and PictoDroidLite_AC in the internal memory of your tablet or cell phone, and substitute them for the folders in the previous zip files.

The application uses the Picts of ARASAAC (http://arasaac.org/), created by Sergio Palao and distributed with Creative Commons license (BY-NC-SA), but you can configure it to use other Picts and even real images.

VirtualTEC

accegal
Application designed to meet the needs of physically impaired people with very restricted controlled movement. It features a virtual keyboard aimed to be a means of alternative communication and thus improve their life quality. All fields and items are scanned, being highlighted as ‘active item’ the one in orange. To access the active item, a touch anywhere on the screen acts as input method. It also includes a voice synthesizer that reads aloud the messages provided by the user to third parties.

It is divided into the following fields:
*Vowels
*Consonants
*Numbers
*Symbols
*Smileys
*Frequent actions (stored by the user himself).
*End (when the user concludes a message to be sent to the speech synthetizer and saved in a database).
*Save Frequent Action (the message will be read aloud by the TTS and will subsequently appear in the frequent action field).
*Delete.

This application also provides a menu with different items: settings, recent messages, about and exit.

Regarding ‘Settings’ menu item, it offers the following possibilities:
*Language (vowel and consonant order, voice synth configuration, etc. depending on the language).
*Type (to select the number of items in the scanning area).
*Scanning speed.
*Speech Synthetizer (enabled/disabled)
*Touch (to access a field or item by simply touching anywhere on the screen, or pressing and releasing anywhere to access the active item).

When selecting the ‘recent messages’ menu item, the system will display the last twenty messages communicated by the user by activating the ‘End’ field on VirtualTEC. The very last message will be the first on the list.

Finally, the menu item ‘About’ simply provides information about the VirtualTEC
