Meet Sabda PS, Co-founder of Zenius

Growing up, Sabda believes that technology is a valuable tool for education. To help Indonesian students further develop their fundamental skills such as critical thinking and verbal logic, he founded and developed Zenius. We spoke with Sabda about his inspirations behind the app and delivering a sustainable impact for learners.
Q: What inspired you to create Zenius?
A: After graduating from university, I took a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test and surprisingly, many Indonesians get low GRE scores while students from other countries can easily pass the test. This made me wonder about what they studied, and how the curriculum is in other countries. I realized that Indonesian students need to improve important fundamental skills like critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and verbal logic.
Q: How do you wish to impact the community through Zenius?
A: We are committed to delivering sustainable (long-term) impact through our learning ecosystem, where everyone can learn continuously on our platform, from primary school to college students or professionals.
We also want to help build good fundamentals skills, so people will be able to think critically and not easily fall victim to fake news/hoaxes.
Q: What are the most unique things about Zenius?
A: Since its inception, we have focused on making students understand the concept rather than rote memorization and understand the big ideas of subjects.
We also want to spark the love of learning in everyone, to question everything, and to develop a passion for learning.
Q: What plans do you have in the future for Zenius?
A: We plan to realize smart (cerdas), intelligent (cerah), and fun (asik) Indonesia. Cerdas represent fundamental skills, where people understand basic mathematics, logical thinking, and literacy. Cerah is knowledge integration, where people can apply their knowledge to daily activities and make connections between knowledge. Meanwhile, Asik is people’s ability to have empathy and social skills.
We will carry out this vision through hybrid and personalized learning in our ecosystem.
