Meet David & Viko, COO & CCO of Virgo
Regardless of having different career backgrounds, David and Viko established Virgo with the same goal - to help Indonesians realize their financial goals. Check out our interview with the COO & CCO on building a bridge for Indonesians to transition from cash to digital payments.
P (Play): What inspired you to create Virgo?
D&V (David & Viko): Despite the rapid adoption of digital payments in Indonesia nowadays, around 90% of retail transactions in Indonesia are conducted in cash. Meanwhile, the use of smartphones reached 167 million people or around 89% of Indonesia's total population. This inspired us to create a product that can help people switch to digital payments.
P: How do you wish to impact the community through Virgo?
D&V: Virgo wants to help Indonesians, especially smartphone users who still utilize cash transactions in second and third-tier cities in Indonesia. Virgo's flagship feature, Top Up Kembalian, is the first step in getting people to start digital transactions. We also want to bridge the users towards a wider range of financial services and products. By doing so, Virgo can contribute towards a cashless ecosystem in Indonesia.

P: What advice would you give to Indonesians looking to get started in tech?
D&V: 3 important skills to master: eagerness to learn, collaboration, and flexibility.
The tech scene is always changing and it would be a big challenge if you’re not a team player. Effective collaboration is the key to innovation. Being flexible is also important, you need to be able to multitask, sometimes even working on things outside your scope of work.

P: How has your company/business benefited from Android and Google Play?
D&V: With Android and Google Play, the Virgo app can be distributed to users all over the world. We are also able to get real testimonials directly from users, which serves as a parameter for us to develop our product.
P: What plans do you have in the future for Virgo?
D&V: Our dream is to grow as a PFM (Personal Financial Management) app that offers various digital financial products that can help manage the finances of its users and contribute to building financial inclusion in Indonesia. We are also planning to work with other partners from various industries.
