Begin your Brawl Stars journey with these tips

If you're starting out in Brawl Stars, you may find yourself thrown into a battle with little idea of what to do. That's where we can help. These beginners' tips for Brawl Stars will give you a solid foundation of background knowledge as you download the game for the first time. There are a lot of nuances in its fast-paced battles, and being aware of them could make all the difference in victory.

Be prepared to lose in the beginning

Some multiplayer games give you ample time to find your footing through matches with bots or other lower-level players when you first get started. But Brawl Stars doesn’t do that, and you may find yourself facing defeat in your early matches. Don’t let this discourage you! As you progress, you will learn the game's mechanics and figure out your strategies, earning that victory in no time.

Level up your favorite Brawler first

As you complete matches, your roster of available Brawlers will start to fill out. Experiment as much as you want, until you find the perfect match for your playing style. From there, use Power Points to level up that character as far as you can. This way, you'll have a ready-made powerhouse in no time flat. Remember, your brawlers won’t be at their full power until they hit level 7.

Finalize your strategy

Part of figuring out your favorite Brawler is learning their attack style, from their weapon's attack type to its overall range. Melee attackers like El Primo can simply punch to their heart's content, while long-range Brawlers will need to place their shots accordingly. Make sure to really learn where your Brawler falls in this range and strategize accordingly to dominate the battle arena.

Know when to retreat

Just as it's crucial to learn how your favorite Brawler attacks, it's also key to be aware of how long your Brawler can fight before they need to retreat. Brawlers who are not actively fighting slowly gain health over time, and a well-timed retreat from a skirmish could give you the advantage when it's time to engage again. Take a step back, heal up, and get back in there to dominate the arena.

Familiarize yourself with the game’s terms

While waiting for the next match, you'll likely hear or see words like "gadgets," "gears," and "Power Points" floating around the screen. Power Points help the Brawlers level up, while Gadgets and Gears are great ways to further customize and power up your Brawler before battle. As you become comfortable with these terms, you’ll be able to implement them more efficiently.
