All the currencies that you'll find in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact is full of different items to collect in order to do all sorts of things, from buying items you need from shops to levelling up and unlocking new characters. Here's a rundown of the currencies in Genshin Impact and what they're good for.

Mora, the most common currency

Mora is money in the world of Genshin Impact, and you'll use it to purchase a lot of what you'll need. It’s used for purchasing food to heal your party and is also necessary for levelling up your characters and weapons. You can earn it by completing missions, defeating enemies and by opening chests.

Event and mission currencies

Some currencies, like Starsail Coins and Aged Tokens, are only available during certain missions or as part of certain events. Usually, there are specific shopkeepers who accept these as part of a mission or at a particular location. You'll use them to buy event- or mission-specific items and cosmetics, so keep an eye out for these currencies during limited-time events.

Wish currencies

Wishes are your main way of getting new characters and weapons in Genshin Impact, using a currency called Fate. Each Fate will buy you a single 'pull' in the Wish system, guaranteeing one reward.
Wishes come in two types: the standard ones that are always available and limited-time event ones that offer specific rewards for a short period. Normal Wishes require Acquaint Fate, while limited-time Wishes need Intertwined Fate.
You'll sometimes receive Fate as rewards for certain activities. However, the main way to get new Fate is by converting other currencies, such as Primogems. You'll earn Primogems by working through missions, completing higher-level activities, earning achievements and through exploration. Primogems are a very important currency in Genshin Impact, so keep an eye out for ways to earn it.
Each Wish roll grants you a weapon or character as a reward, along with either Masterless Stardust or Starglitter. You can convert both these currencies back into Fate in the in-game shop.
Finally, there's Genshin Impact's premium currency: Genesis Crystals. These are purchased with actual money and can be exchanged for Primogems to buy more Fate.

Levelling currencies

In Genshin Impact, you won’t level up your characters and weapons by defeating enemies and completing quests. Instead, you need to use EXP material to upgrade your characters.
The main EXP materials are Wanderer's Advice, which gives 1,000 EXP, Adventurer's Experience (5,000 EXP) and Hero's Wit (20,000 EXP). Levelling currencies come from all kinds of activities, including Archon missions and defeating bosses.
You can also level up your characters' weapons and artefacts using items that award Weapon EXP and Artifact EXP, respectively. For weapons, you'll use Enhancement Ore (400 EXP), Fine Enhancement Ore (2,000 EXP) and Mystic Enhancement Ore (10,000 EXP). Artefacts use Sanctifying Unction (2,500 EXP) and Sanctifying Essence (10,000 EXP).
You can forge weapon enhancement materials from the minerals that you gather out in the world, while artefact enhancement materials can be purchased from certain shops or earned from missions.

Elemental Sigil currencies

Sigils are exploration currencies for different areas around the world of Teyvat, specific to the Archons of the area. So, you’ll find the Anemo Sigils near Mondstadt, Pyro Sigils around Natlan and so on. You can use Sigils at Souvenir shops to purchase various items like levelling materials and Mora.
You earn Sigils through exploration in the areas where they're used by opening treasure chests, activating Statues of the Seven and completing some domains.
