Everything about NeXTerra in Free Fire

Free Fire offers players various maps for battle royales, deathmatches and more. From the original Bermuda to Purgatory and everything in between, each map offers plenty to do, see and find, no matter what mode you're playing. One map, however, blends the modern with the future like no other to create some of the most unique experiences in the game, and it's called NeXTerra.
This guide is going to deep dive into NeXTerra, from the locations with the most loot – and the most activity – to the mechanics that make this map unique. There's a lot to explore in this futuristic city map, and we'll help you figure out your best options when dropping in on it for the first time.

All about NeXTerra

NeXTerra is set in a neo-futuristic urban area lined with neon. While some of the area gives a more natural vibe, most of what it offers is unlike anything else in all of Free Fire, making it one of the best maps to play in regardless of skill level or expertise.
It has anti-gravity chambers that let you bounce around at will, along with destructible environments that help you dismantle enemy camps in certain areas. Better still, the map has portals scattered all across, allowing instantaneous movement, which could give you the jump on an unsuspecting opponent no matter where they're currently located.

NeXTerra hot spots

Every map in Garena Free Fire has a few locations that become instant hot spots from the moment the match begins. Whether it's because of the loot or the location, these zones become shooting ranges as soon as a group drops. NexTerra is no exception, and if you're not trying to start your match with a bang, you should land elsewhere.
Locations you should try to land in
  • Grav Labs – If you've ever wanted to know what it'd be like to have a firefight on the moon, this is it. This is a popular spot to drop in simply because of its anti-gravity mechanic. Here, you can leap extraordinary heights, engage in thrilling airborne combat and completely negate fall damage, so be ready with some creative strategies.
  • Intellect Centre – The northern tip of the island plays home to a massive building with multiple floors and ramps, and it's bursting at the seams with loot. But the catch is that you'll be completely exposing yourself to enemies, so if you drop here, you're going to be fighting for your life in a hurry.
  • Plazaria – Plazaria has three interconnected buildings, each hiding their own loot stash. You might be able to land on the edges of this area and get away without being noticed, but land in the centre and you're going to have a hard time getting out.

Low-key landing locations

Sometimes, you want to land right in the thick of things and start a battle royale match with guns blazing. Other times, however, you might want to find something off the beaten path and give yourself some time to stock up and build a loadout you're comfortable with. For those moments when you want to be low-key, here are a few places you should land.
  • Zipway – Zipway is a good place to land thanks to the many escape routes in this sleek high-tech industrial park. Jump on a zip line to escape an enemy in a pinch, so if you don't want a lot of fights early, zip out of there easily
  • Mortar Ruins – The Mortar Ruins to the northeast holds multiple ruined buildings with multiple sniper points and poor cover. Its loot density is low, so you might find yourself relatively alone here. If you find a spot on top of a hill, though, you could find a good sniper rifle and enjoy the high ground for long-range engagements
  • Mud Site – Mud Site looks like it should have a lot of activity most of the time, but there's not a lot of loot to go around in there. It does make for a good stronghold though, because of its destructible environments, especially if the Safe Zone comes to you as the match progresses.

Best NeXTerra strategies

The first major piece of advice that we can offer is to make sure that you get the anti-gravity mechanics down in the Grav Labs. In the event that a battle royale is pushed there by the safe zone, you don't want to be behind the learning curve and potentially lose the match simply because you didn't practice first. Also, incorporate portals into your strategy, as they can be complete game changers.
Focus on destructible environments, and know where they are and how to manoeuvre around them in a firefight. As fun as it is to knock out a wall and expose the enemy behind it, you also don't want to get caught in that same situation. Make sure that you're aware of your surroundings before venturing into those areas.
