Hero types and roles in Last War: Survival Game

There’s more to Last War: Survival Game than just breaking barrels and screens to fight the zombie hordes. While that's still part of the experience, you’ll also want to get to know the Hero system.
You can bring up to five heroes along for the ride in each battle, with each hero offering firepower and abilities to help get you through the enemy attacks. Here are a few things that you'll need to consider when it comes to choosing heroes.

Know the classes and ranks

Each hero in Last War: Survival Game is categorised based on their rarity, vehicle type and role on the battlefield. Each classification has three options, which are listed below.
Hero rarity categories:
  • Super Rare (SR), noted by the colour blue
  • Super Super Rare (SSR), noted by the colour purple
  • Ultra Rare (UR), noted by the colour orange
Hero vehicle types
  • Tank
  • Missile
  • Aircraft
Ability
  • Attack (offensive-focused)
  • Defensive (can withstand more damage than other heroes)
  • Support (offers healing and buffs to other heroes)

Balance your teams

The best teams in Last War: Survival Game have heroes from each Class or Ability before setting out into battle. Furthermore, the placement of these heroes in formation is also important, as you could be unintentionally leaving a weaker hero in a vulnerable position.
Attack heroes, especially Tanks, do best in the frontlines, firing away at zombies and scoring as many kills as possible. Support heroes, conversely, are better suited for the back line, as their defences will not be as formidable as the other two classes. Finding the best harmony for your lineup is key to victory, so be sure to experiment.
Another reason for having a variety is that certain types of heroes are stronger against others. Tank heroes can take 20% less damage from Missile heroes, Missile heroes take 20% less damage from Aircraft heroes and Aircraft heroes take 20% less damage from Tanks. A well-rounded team will prepare you for any enemy.

Upgrades vs Tiers

There are two different ways to enhance your hero's stats: Upgrades and Tiers. Both are equally important in making the heroes in your team better fighters but try not to confuse one with the other. As long as you keep both options in mind, your heroes will be fighting machines.
Upgrades follow a more traditional level-up system, with the max level for a hero dependent on the level of your Headquarters at the time. Tiers, meanwhile, require special items called Hero Shards, and each tier increase gives a substantial buff to HP, attack and defence. Take note of how many Shards you have for each rarity and hero, and if you can promote someone to the next tier, do it immediately. Equipping gear and skills

You can also further enhance your heroes by unlocking skills – character-specific abilities accessible after levelling up the character to a certain level – and equipping gear – items scavenged from battle or built in your base camp. Both of these can make a hero even stronger, so keep an eye out for anything that might make your favourite hero even better.
We recommend equipping each of your most active heroes with Weapon Gear and Armour Gear at the very least, as the boosts to attack power and defence that they provide will make a difference. Chips and Radar aren't as important, but if you find something to lock in, it's worth doing so.

Remember to recruit

Heroes are an essential part of success in Last War: Survival Game, but they don't just fall out of the sky. You have to recruit them, and there are certain items that you'll need in order to do so.
Tap the Recruit heroes button on the Heroes screen to go to the recruiting page. There you can exchange Legendary Recruiting Tickets in order to get the chance for a new hero. If you manage to stockpile a sizable number of tickets before heading to the recruiting page, you might just score a new Ultra Rare hero.
