How co-ops work in Township

Building a community in Township can sometimes feel lonely, especially when your town is just starting out. Eventually, though, once you unlock the co-op feature, you'll be able to join other players and build thriving communities alongside them.
This guide will explain how co-ops work in Township, along with special events and perks available to those in a co-op. Whether you want to join an existing co-op or create one of your own, we have you covered on how to get the most out of your Township co-op.

What is a co-op in Township?

In Township, a co-op is like a guild or clan, where up to 30 players can join together and chat about upcoming events, visit each other's townships and trade resources. By joining one, you can provide – or receive – indirect help to each other.

How do you create a co-op?

Once your town reaches Level 19, the co-op building becomes available for renovations. After rebuilding it, you can create your first co-op for 1,000 coins. You can adjust the settings for how other players can join your group: open to all, invite only or subject to approval from high-ranking members.
Once you've created a co-op, you become its Leader, with extra responsibilities and options available only to you.
Leader responsibilities
  • Accept or deny new members
  • Promote or demote current members, excluding the Leader position
  • Restrict players from co-op activities, like Regatta
  • Remove members from the co-op

Joining another co-op

If you'd prefer to join someone else's group rather than your own, you can use the co-op search feature to find a specific co-op by its ID number. You can also simply view a list of co-ops with open slots and join whichever one you like.

Leaving a co-op

You can only join one co-op at a time and every time you leave a co-op, you’ll face a time penalty before you can join another. The length of the penalty is based on how often you leave co-ops, so if you like to hop around, you may have to wait up to two hours before you can join a new one.

Co-op activities

While co-ops mostly focus on resource trading and visiting other towns, those aren’t the only perks being in a co-op can offer. There are also two types of co-op-exclusive events: the Regatta and the Race of Champions. Both events offer a variety of rewards like T-cash, tools, ingots and more.
The Regatta is a boat race-themed event that takes place over a week. Players in a Regatta will complete tasks related to gathering resources or improving buildings in their town in order to earn Regatta Points for their co-op. The group with the most points wins the Regatta and its rewards.
The Race of Champions, meanwhile, takes place every five weeks in place of the Regatta. The competition is themed around remote-controlled car races. Players earn points via in-game challenges and receive rewards based on how many points they’ve earned.
