As you build your Clash of Clans camp with a Town Hall, Gold Mines, a Barracks and other buildings, opposing clans might keep taking your resources, and it could be because your base isn't laid out effectively. Your Town Hall is the most important building in your base, so you have to make it very difficult for raiders to get to. The easiest way to do this is by placing your Town Hall at your base's very centre and surrounding it with every building, wall, fence and defensive structure that you can muster. Your enemies can't reach your Town Hall if there's too much in the way.

This might seem obvious, but while building your base around your Town Hall, avoid leaving an open space or running out of materials for your fence and having to come back to it later. Empty space is essentially a bullseye for enemy clans. If they target areas near empty space, they only have to break through the barriers leading up to it, gaining free passage to your inner line of defence or worse, your Town Hall. Fill all available space and reshuffle buildings later if you must.

As your base expands, use layers in your building methods to fortify it as much as possible. Other buildings besides your Town Hall, though not ideal, can serve as a makeshift wall in a crisis. Don't be afraid to use them around your base. Ideally, place a wall, then a few buildings and then another wall, with other defensive structures interspersed throughout the layers.

Along with the buildings and walls surrounding your Town Hall, include defensive structures like Archer Towers that allow you to fight back against opposing raids. What good is protecting your Town Hall if you don't fight against those who threaten it? The more damage you can deal to a raiding clan, the better your potential to defeat them and successfully defend your Town Hall.
